The 28-year-old has been the Blue Jackets' best netminder this year, with his 4-5-1 record, .905 SV% and 3.43 GAA. He will face the New York Islanders, who have won their last two games 5-1 and are 11th in the NHL in goals per game (3.25).

Mitchell has two assists, five SOG and is a -5 plus/minus through seven games with the Blackhawks this season but will head to the press box as a healthy scratch Tuesday. Caleb Jones will be his replacement on Chicago's blueline.

Tyler Johnson will return to the Blackhawks' lineup Tuesday vs. Washington (ankle)

Johnson was placed on the injured reserve on Oct. 27th due to an ankle injury but will return Tuesday on a line with Jason Dickinson and Jujhar Khaira. The 32-year-old was having his best season to date, with two goals, four assists and 12 SOG through six games prior to the injury.
