Cehlarik was called up because Jake DeBrusk was dealing with a lower-body injury but DeBrusk will play. So Cehlarik will replace David Backes, who comes out as a healthy scratch. The 23-year-old winger has four points (1G / 3A) in 17 career NHL games and 29 points (10G / 19A) in 37 games with Providence this season.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Rask, who comes into Thursday’s game at 7-4-1 with a 2.18 GAA, .921 SV% and one shutout on home-ice this season. He faces a Blues team that is heating up, winning three of their last four (3-0-1).

Korpisalo stopped 32 of 33 shots in the Blue Jackets win in Washington on Saturday. He has won his last three starts, stopping 83 of the 90 shots (.922 SV%) that he faced.

Zadorov has been out since December 19th, missing a total of 10 games. There is no word who Zadorov will replace but expect it to be Mark Barberio or Ryan Graves. Zadorov has three goals and two assists in 34 games this season.

Despite a solid matchup against a middling Blackhawks team, the unpredictable nature of a Winter Classic adds some uncertainty and risk to starting Rask on Tuesday.

McAvoy was banged up before the Christmas break, missed Thursday’s game vs. New Jersey and was moved to IR on Friday. His move to IR simply means that he won’t play on Saturday but is eligible to play in the Winter Classic.

McAvoy is hurting after blocking a shot in Carolina on Sunday, so he’ll come out of the lineup on Thursday. Luckily for the Bruins, they will get both Zdeno Chara and Kevan Miller back on the blueline to replace McAvoy.

Korpisalo gave up three goals on 25 shots in the Blue Jackets loss to the Canucks on December 11th. Korpisalo has not recorded a win since November 15th but will get a second crack at the Rangers tonight. The 24-year-old allowed four goals on 19 shots in a 5-4 shootout loss to New York back in November.

Bergeron has been out since November 16th but will draw back into the lineup Saturday afternoon vs. the Predators. Bergeron’s return will shuffle the Bruins’ top-6 a bit and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson will be a healthy scratch. Bergeron has nine goals and 17 assists (26 points) in 19 games this season.
