Bishop (lower-body) feels as if he can start on Tuesday.

Bishop was back at practice again on Monday and said after the skate that he thinks he will be able to play on Tuesday. We likely won’t know if he is starting for sure until after tomorrow’s morning skate, but this is great news for Bishop owners.

Bishop (lower-body) practiced again on Monday.

Bishop has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury that he suffered last Monday. He was hoping to be back in the crease this weekend, but only practiced on Saturday. His availability again this morning suggests that Bishop could be back tomorrow vs. the Penguins.

Reimer leads the Leafs onto the ice for warmups.

Reimer stopped the only shot that he faced after replacing Jonathan Bernier in the Maple Leafs blowout loss to the Flyers on Saturday night. Heading into tonight, Reimer has won each of his last two starts in shootouts, while posting a 1.85 GAA and .949 SV%. There are better spot-start option than him tonight, with the Leafs in Chicago to take on the Hawks.

Bishop (lower-body) did not practice on Thursday; doesn’t look like he will play this weekend.

Earlier in the week Bishop was hopeful that he would be able to skate today and return to the crease this weekend. He said that he might skate tomorrow, but the chances of him playing on Friday and Saturday appears slim.

Bishop (lower-body) says his injury is not serious; hoping to be back this weekend.

Bishop said he tweaked something in the first period of last night’s game. Bishop hopes to practice on Thursday on play this weekend, either Friday vs. the Devils or Saturday vs. the Islanders.

Ben Bishop
Bishop left Monday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

Bishop finished the first period, but told coach Cooper that he could not go back in for the second. Bishop stopped four of five shots in the first, before being replaced by Evgeni Nabokov for the second. The Lightning are back in action tonight, so it is unlikely that Bishop will be ready to go, so look for Nabokov to start in goal.

Bishop allowed three goals on 27 shots in the Lightning’s 4-2 loss to the Capitals on Saturday. He has now dropped his last three starts with a 3.44 GAA and .877 SV%. It has been a tough stretch for Bishop, who will look to get back on track tonight vs. a Penguins team without Sidney Crosby.

Reimer leads the Leafs onto the ice for warmups

Remier skated on Saturday morning so his tweaked groin is good-to-go today vs. the Kings. He had a stellar outing on Wednesday, stopping 41 of 42 shots in the 2-1 shootout win over the Red Wings. Today it looks like he will be the one to take on the Kings, a team who are 1-2-0 on their current road-trip.

After getting Thursday night off, Bishop will be back in the cage tonight and get a second crack at Washington. Bishop is 16-5-2 with a 2.31 GAA and .915 SV% on the season so it is easy to expect a bounce-back performance from the 6-foot-7 net minder.

Reimer (groin) says he could start Sunday if he is called upon.

The belief is that the Maple Leafs planned to start Reimer tonight and Jonathan Bernier tomorrow vs. his former team, but after Reimer tweaked his groin in practice on Thursday, it will be Bernier tonight and could be Reimer tomorrow. There will be no morning skate tomorrow, so the Leafs starter will not be revealed until warmups at 4:30 PM ET.

James Reimer
Reimer left practice on Friday with a sore groin.

Reimer appeared to be in-line to make a second straight start on Saturday vs. the Red Wings, but he tweaked his groin in practice this morning. Coach Carlyle hopes the goalies can split the back-to-back, but it will all depend on Reimer’s health. Monitor his status during Saturday’s morning skate.
