Rooney appeared in the final four games before the All-Star break but was sent back for the duration of the break. He returns to New Jersey, where he has one goal in nine games while averaging 9:24 TOI/gm.
Weegar suffered a concussion in Montreal on Tuesday on a hit that resulted in Paul Byron getting suspended for three games. Josh Brown is expected to make his NHL debut in Weegar’s place on Friday.
Bishop has missed the last six games with a lower-body injury but “may be ready to go tomorrow” after practicing Thursday. Even if he plays, Bishop has just three points (1G / 2A) in 20 games while averaging just 9:27 TOI/gm, so he has no fantasy value.
Rooney, 25, has not registered a point in four games with the Devils this season but has 17 points (1G / 16A) in 34 games with Binghamton. There is no word whether or not he will play in his 10th career NHL game on Thursday.
Bishop left the game in Philadelphia after playing just 2:15 TOI and is questionable for Friday’s game against the Blue Jackets. Greg McKegg was recalled from Charlotte (AHL) and would play if Bishop can’t go.
Mantha has been out since December 2nd, missing the last 14 games with a hand injury but will play Friday vs. the Predators. Mantha has scored nine goals and five assists (14 points) in 27 games this season.
Bishop has just one goal and one assist in 15 games with the Hurricanes this season. The 22-year-old heads back to Charlotte, where he has five points (3G / 2) in 13 games.
Lomberg has not registered a point in three games with the Flames this seaosn but has six points (2G / 4A) in 19 games with Stockton.
Hanley cleared waivers on Tuesday but will also draw into the lineup on the same day. Hanley was a healthy scratch on Saturday but will replace Julius Honka tonight.
Backlund has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury but could play on the Flames’ three-game road-trip, which starts Saturday afternoon in Minnesota. Monitor his status as the Flames hit the ice for warmups at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Lomberg has not drawn back into the Flames lineup after being suspended and returns to the AHL with Jon Gillies coming up from Stockton. Lomberg has six points (2G / 4A) and 12 PIMS in 18 AHL games this season.
Barrie has missed the last four games but will play Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Mark Alt is expected to be a healthy scratch with Barrie back in. Barrie has 20 points (3G / 17A), a plus-13 rating and 53 shots on goal in 23 games this season.
Mantha broke his had in a fight with Patrik Nemeth on Sunday and will miss at least one month. With Mantha out, Gustav Nyquist will move to the top-line on Tuesday and Luke Witkowski will dress as a seventh defenseman.
Mantha will miss Tuesday’s game against the Lightning with an undisclosed injury but GM Ken Holland said the winger could possibly be out long-term. Mantha will be re-evaluated later in the day and the Red Wings should provide more details on the nature of the injury. With Mantha out, rookie Michael Rasmussen could take on an expanded role but this injury is devastating for a Red Wings team that was playing better than most people expected.
