Frederick Andersen is not close to returning to the Hurricanes' lineup (undisclosed).

Rod Brind'Amour announced today that "Nobody's close to getting back." Meaning the Hurricane's all-start netminder will find himself on the shelf for even longer with an undisclosed injury. Andersen had struggled a bit this season after finishing fourth in Vezina Trophy voting in 2021-22, posting a .891 SV% and 2.72 GAA but a decent 5-3-0 record all the same.

Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour announced Friday that starting goaltender Frederik Andersen will be placed on the injured reserve retroactive to November 6th. Andersen had struggled a bit this season after finishing fourth in Vezina Trophy voting in 2021-22, posting a .891 SV% and 2.72 GAA but a decent 5-3-0 record all the same.

Pyotr Kochetkov will make his season debut Thursday as he starts vs. Edmonton.

Kochetkov will get his first NHL start of the season Thursday after posting a 2-2-1 record, along with a 3.00 GAA and .911 SV% with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. He draws the tough start of the Edmonton Oilers, who rank third in the NHL in goals per game (3.79) fueled in part by their 2nd ranked Powerplay which converts at a 32.7% rate.

After finishing fourth in Vezina voting in 2021-22, he has struggled so far this season, posting a 4-2-0 record along with a .896 SV% and 2.64 GAA. He takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday who is starting to find their footing, winning their last three games scoring four goals in each victory.

On Monday, he'll take on a Capitals team that has won five of their last seven games while averaging 3.43 goals per game.
