The Hurricanes have signed Jordan Martinook to a two-year extension worth $4.0 million ($2.0M AAV).

“Jordan has really fit in well with our group and provides veteran leadership both on and off the ice,” said GM Don Waddell. “He skates with a relentless energy that epitomizes the way Coach Brind’Amour wants the Hurricanes to play.” The 26-year-old winger has 10 goals and three assists (13 points) in 50 games during his first season with the Hurricanes.

Hall (lower-body) did not travel to Pittsburgh for Monday’s game.

Hall will miss 14th consecutive game with a lower-body injury but did skate in New Jersey prior to the Devils practice on Sunday. Skating is an encouraging sign that Hall shouldn’t be too far away but he certainly is not healing as quick as they originally expected.

Ehlers will be out until mid-February with an upper-body injury.

Ehlers left Friday’s game in Pittsburgh with an upper-body injury and the evaluation did not go well. Head coach Paul Maurice announced on Saturday afternoon that Ehlers will miss approximately six weeks. Jack Roslovic moved into the Jets’ top-6 with Ehlers not on the ice for Saturday’s practice.

Hall (lower-body) will return to the Devils lineup on Tuesday.

Hall has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury but will play Tuesday vs. the Maple Leafs. Hall will be back on the top line with Nico Hischier and that duo has a 55.1 CF% and are averaging an impressive 33 scoring chances for/60 in 280:15 5v5 TOI together this season. Overall, Hall has eight goals and 23 assists (31 points) in 29 games.
