Rantanen, who has been out since October 21st, will miss Wednesday's game but will return to Colorado's lineup in Chicago on Saturday. Rantanen is expected to jump right back onto the right-side of Nathan Mackinnon and will try to build off of a hot-start that saw him register 12 points (5G / 7A) in his first nine games.
Rantanen joined his teammates for practice on Monday and head coach Jared Bednar left open the possibility of him playing by this weekend. Rantanen will likely miss his 15th consecutive game on Wednesday but monitor his status ahead of their Friday/Saturday home-and-home with the Blackhawks.
While the Stars are in Calgary, Hintz was back skating in Dallas and could be back in the lineup next week. Right now the Stars don't expect him to join them on the trip but believe he could be ready when they return to Dallas next Tuesday. So far the Stars are 1-0-1 and have scored six goals in two games without Hintz.
Hintz missed Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury and was originally considered day-to-day but head coach Jim Montgomery announced that their No.2 centre will miss two weeks. Jason Dickinson skated as the Stars No.2 centre last night, so look for that to continue while Hintz is out. Joe Pavelski could always shift back to centre as well.
Capobianco comes up from the AHL because Jordan Oesterle was hurt last night and Capobianco will likely serve as a reserve defenseman with Ilya Lyubushkin replacing Oesterle.
Hintz was not on the ice for the Stars morning skate and head coach Jim Montgomery doesn't expect to have him for at least two games. This is a huge blow for a Stars team that is rolling right now and Hintz is a huge part of that, scoring nine goals on 33 shots (27.3 SH%) with two assists in 16 games. Jason Dickinson will replace him on the second line with Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski.
Capobianco was a healthy scratch for the last two games and gets sent back to the AHL with Aaron Ness taking his spot with Arizona. Capobianco had one goal in six games with Coyotes during his call-up.
Duchene missed Saturday's game in Tampa Bay but will be back on the Predators' second-line on Tuesday. Duchene has had a strong start to his Predators career, posting 11 points (2G / 9A) in 10 games.
Blackwell has one goal and two assists in eight games with Milwaukee this season. With Filip Forsberg likely out and Matt Duchene questionable, Blackwell could make his season debut on Tuesday. The former seventh-round pick has no points in six career NHL games.
Capobianco appeared in six straight games but will be replaced by Aaron Ness on Monday. Capobianco has just one goal while averaging 13:47 TOI/gm this season.
Duchene was forced to leave Thursday's game vs. the Wild with a lower-body injury and did not return. However, he was on the ice for the Predators morning skate and is expected to play in Tampa Bay. Duchene has 11 points (2G / 9A) in 10 games this season.
Head coach Jared Bednar said he doesn't feel like it will be a "4-to-6 week" injury and expects him back sooner than that. The Avalanche have officially placed the "week-to-week" tag on him, so expect him to miss at least a couple of weeks. He will be re-evaluated after that and then you can expect another update from Colorado.
Rantanen suffered a pretty ugly looking lower-body injury in the first period of Monday’s game in St. Louis. Rantanen suffered a non-contact injury, twisting his knee while skating out of the offensive zone. Non-contact injuries are usually bad news but the Avalanche likely won’t release any further information until Rantanen is evaluated.
Capobianco will be replacing Niklas Hjalmarsson, who is expected to miss at least three months with a fractured leg. Capobianco has no points in his first three career NHL games but had seven goals and 25 assists (32 points) in 40 AHL games last season.
Steel has been out since the season-opener but will be back on the Ducks’ top-line on Monday afternoon. Steel will have Maxime Comtois and Ondrej Kase on his wings, but have a tough matchup against the Bruins.
There were reports on Monday morning that Nicklas Hjalmarsson will miss approximately three months, so Capobianco has earned a call-up and could be in-line for an extended stay with the Coyotes. The former third-round pick had 32 points (7G / 25A) in 40 AHL games last year and has failed to record a point in his first three career NHL contests.
Steel missed Saturday’s game vs. the Sharks with what the Ducks described as a “mid-body” injury. Isac Lundestrom replaced him on Saturday but Steel could play in Detroit after accompanying the team on the road trip. Monitor his status after the team’s morning skate.
