DeSmith will start Saturday in Vancouver.

DeSmith allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Penguins loss to Vancouver on October 16th. DeSmith went 1-0-2 with a 2.59 GAA and .922 SV% in three starts while Matt Murray was on the shelf with a concussion. Tonight he gets another crack at the Canucks and should have plenty of goal-support from a red-hot surrounding cast.

The Stars have sent Roope Hintz to Texas (AHL).

Hintz failed to record a point in his first five NHL games this season. Hintz filled-in for Alexander Radulov on the Stars top line last night, but didn’t do much with the opportunity. He heads to Texas, where he had 20 goals and 15 assists (35 points) in 70 games last year.

DeSmith will start Tuesday vs. the Canucks.

DeSmith allowed three goals on 40 shots in the Penguins shootout loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. Despite Matt Murray being healthy, DeSmith will make his third straight start tonight vs. the Canucks. DeSmith has picked up three of a possible four points in his two starts, stopping 72 of the 77 shots (.935 SV%) that he has faced.

DeSmith stopped 35 of 37 shots in the Penguins win over the Golden Knights on Thursday. DeSmith filled in admirably for Matt Murray, who was unavailable due to a concussion. Murray is healthy enough to dress tonight, but they will stick with DeSmith after a great performance versus Vegas.

DeSmith will start Thursday vs. the Golden Knights.

DeSmith takes over as the Penguins starting goalie with Matt Murray sidelined with a concussion. The 27-year-old was in this position last year, going 6-4-1 with a 2.40 GAA and .921 SV%. DeSmith is a worthwhile pickup while Murray is out, but has a tough first matchup with the Golden Knights in town.

The Lightning re-signed Adam Erne to a one-year deal worth $800K.

Erne played with both Tampa Bay (NHL) and Syracuse (AHL) for the second straight season. The 23-year-old had three goals and one assist in 23 games with the Lightning and 26 points (12G / 14A) in 41 games with the Crunch. Erne heads into the 2019 season as the 12th or 13th forward in Tampa Bay, unless there is an Erik Karlsson trade that frees up some room on the depth chart.

The Predators have signed Colin Blackwell to a two-year deal worth $1.3M ($650K AAV).
