Rantanen (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Rantanen’s status for tonight’s game was iffy on Monday and remains in question as he’s officially listed as a game-time decision. The Avalanche are already without Nathan MacKinnon, so losing two-thirds of their top-line would be a tough pill to swallow. Monitor Rantanen’s status when the Avalanche hit the ice for warmups at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Rantanen (undisclosed) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Sharks.

Rantanen is “banged up” so his status for Tuesday’s game is up in the air. Keep an eye on Rantanen’s status during tomorrow’s morning skate, but Colin Wilson is expected to skate with Alexander Kerfoot and Gabriel Landeskog if Ratanen can’t play.

The Penguins sent Casey DeSmith to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

DeSmith had an impressive run with the Penguins, winning three of his last five starts with a 2.03 GAA and .939 SV%. However, with Matt Murray back the Penguins likely want DeSmith to get some playing time so they’ve swapped him with Tristan Jarry, who has been getting playing time in the AHL for the last few weeks.

Casey DeSmith
DeSmith will make his fourth straight start on Thursday.

DeSmith stopped 34 of 35 shots in the Penguins win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday. DeSmith has gone 2-1-0 with a 1.35 GAA and .960 SV% in his previous three games so he earned a fourth straight start tonight. As good as he has been, he will be in tough vs. a Wild team that has won four of their last five.

DeSmith will start Tuesday vs. the Hurricanes.

DeSmith allowed two goals on 36 shots in the Penguins loss in San Jose on Saturday. DeSmith will make his third straight start having stopped 62 of the 65 shots (.954 SV%) in his previous two starts. Tonight he faces a Hurricanes team that has lost three of their last 10 (3-6-1).

The Penguins have recalled Casey DeSmith from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

DeSmith has played 80 minutes with the Penguins this season, stopped 20 of the 24 shots (.833 SV%) that he faced. During his time with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton he has gone 12-5-1 with a 2.53 GAA and .915 SV%. DeSmith’s recall suggests that something is up with Matt Murray or Tristan Jarry.

Duchene (illness) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Duchene was listed as questionable on Monday and remains that way as he tries to get over the flu. Duchene missed the morning skate, which isn’t a good sign for his availability but the Senators will see how the afternoon goes. If he can’t play, look for Mark Borowiecki (concussion) to replace him as a seventh defenseman.

Matt Duchene
Duchene (illness) is questionable for Tuesday’s game vs. Chicago.

Duchene has the flu and is questionable for tomorrow’s game, which is a tough break because he is playing his best hockey since joining the Senators. Duchene had just six points (3G / 3A) in his first 24 games with Ottawa, but had three goals and one assist in two games over the weekend. Monitor Duchene’s status during Tuesday’s morning skate.

The Penguins sent Casey DeSmith to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

DeSmith came up to backup Tristan Jarry while Matt Murray was out for one-game, but with Murray back over the weekend, he returns to the AHL where he has gone 10-5-1 with a 2.72 GAA and .911 SV% in 17 games.

The Coyotes recalled Kyle Capobianco from Tucson (AHL) on Monday.

Capobianco, 20, was a third round pick (No.63 overall) in 2015 and has earned his first career call-up after posting two goals and 12 assists (14 points) in 17 games with the Roadrunners. The Coyotes recently got Jakob Chychrun back, so there’s no word who Capobianco would replace if he gets into the Coyotes lineup.

The Penguins have recalled Casey DeSmith from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

DeSmith, 26, has gone 9-2-1 with a 2.29 GAA and .924 SV% in 12 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. With Matt Murray leaving Monday’s game following a collision with Jakub Voracek, DeSmith’s call-up suggests that Murray will miss some time and roll with DeSmith and Tristan Jarry as their goaltending duo. In his only NHL appearance, DeSmith allowed three goals on 15 shots during a relief appearance in a 7-1 loss in Winnipeg.
