Edmonton Oilers News

Jarventie has been reassigned to Bakersfield (AHL).

Jarventie was a second-round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He played seven games with Ottawa in the 2023-24 season, but has otherwise played exclusively in the AHL before his most recent three-game stint with the Oilers. Jarventie has 36 points (17G / 19A) in 52 games with Bakersfield (AHL) this season.

Ingram will start vs. Seattle on Tuesday.

Oilers' Head Coach Kris Knoblauch made it clear earlier this month that Ingram is their starting goalie, and he will return to the crease for the eighth time in the last nine games. Despite the vote of confidence, Ingram has been far from spectacular for the Oilers, posting a pedestrian 3.07 GAA and .887 SV% in his last 11 appearances (6-3-1). That said, he's coming off an excellent performance, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%) in a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The Oilers enter Tuesday's contest as -179 home favourites against a Seattle Kraken team with points in three straight games (1-0-2).

Frederic (undisclosed) will remain out on Tuesday but has a chance to return vs. Chicago on Thursday.

Frederic has not played in nearly two weeks due to an undisclosed injury, but he could return as soon as Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 28-year-old Frederic is averaging 10:45 time-on-ice, recording six points (4G / 2A), a -16 plus/minus, and 170 hits in 67 games this season.

Edmonton has signed Tomas Cibulka to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Cibulka is an undrafted 21-year-old defenseman that that has just earned a two-year, entry-level contract after completing his second professional season in Czechia. The Czech defenseman scored 22 points (7G / 15A) this season in 47 games with Ceske Budejovice HC.

Ingram will start in Vegas on Thursday.

Oilers' Head Coach Kris Knoblauch made it clear earlier this month that Ingram is their starting goalie, but after two poor outings, Ingram had the night off, with Tristan Jarry tending the twine in a 5-2 victory over the Utah Mammoth. The 28-year-old Ingram has been reliable on most nights for the Oilers this season, but has allowed eight goals on 42 shots (.840 SV%) over his last two games (0-2-0). He has a 2.98 GAA and .883 SV% in eight appearances this month (4-2-1). The Oilers enter Thursday's contest as +120 road underdogs against a Vegas Golden Knights team that is 1-4-0 in its last five games.

Jarry will start in Utah on Tuesday.

The Oilers have made it clear that Connor Ingram is their starting goalie, but they will turn to Jarry on Tuesday against the Utah Mammoth for his first game since March 12th, when he allowed seven goals on 27 shots (.741 SV%) in a 7-2 loss to the Dallas Stars. The 30-year-old Jarry has been a major disappointment since joining the Oilers. He has allowed four or more goals in six consecutive starts (2-4-0), posting a dreadful 5.47 GAA and .828 SV% in that stretch. The Oilers enter Tuesday's contest as +113 road underdogs against a Mammoth team that is 3-1-0 in their last four games.

Ingram will start Saturday vs. the Lightning.

Ingram surrendered four goals on 23 shots in the Oilers' loss to the Panthers on Saturday. Ingram has cemented himself as the Oilers' No.1 netminder and will start his fifth consecutive game on Saturday. Since the Olympic break, Ingram has gone 5-2-1 with a 2.87 GAA and .889 SV%. Tonight he'll face the Lightning as +113 home underdogs, making him a very risky fantasy option.

Kapanen (illness) will play against the Panthers on Thursday.

Kapanen has already missed 41 games this season due to a myriad of ailments but thankfully will be available for Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers. The 29-year-old Finnish forward was not at Edmonton's morning skate on Thursday. He has 15 points (7G / 8A) in 28 games this season.

Kasperi Kapanen
Emberson (undisclosed) is a possibility to return over the weekend.

Emberson has not played in over a week due to an undisclosed injury, but is targeting a return to Edmonton's lineup on the weekend. The 25-year-old defenseman is averaging 15:49 time-on-ice and has 12 points (2G / 10A) in 60 games this season.

Ingram will start vs. Florida on Thursday.

Earlier this week, Oilers' Head Coach Kris Knoblauch indicated that Ingram is the team's starting goalie, and he is doubling down on that statement on Thursday, turning to him to tend the twine for the eighth time in the last 11 games. The 28-year-old Ingram was serviceable in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks, saving 27 of 30 shots (.900 SV%). He has a 2.72 GAA and .896 SV% in eight games (6-1-1) since returning from the Olympic break. The Oilers enter Thursday's contest as -159 home favourites against a Florida Panthers team that has been outscored 11-4 in their last two games (0-2-0).

Kapanen (illness) will be a game-time decision vs. Florida on Thursday

Kapanen has already missed 41 games this season due to a myriad of ailments and could miss another, as his status for Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers is uncertain. The 29-year-old Finnish forward was not at Edmonton's morning skate on Thursday. He has 15 points (7G / 8A) in 28 games this season.

Jarventie has been recalled from Bakersfield (AHL).

Jarventie was a second-round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He played seven games with Ottawa in the 2023-24 season, but has otherwise played exclusively in the AHL. With Leon Draisaitl (lower body) placed on Injured Reserve, Jarventie has been recalled and could get a chance to draw into Edmonton's lineup. Jarventie has 36 points (17G / 19A) in 52 games with Bakersfield (AHL) this season.

Roby Jarventie
Draisaitl (lower-body) is out for the remainder of the regular season.

Draisaitl lasted only six shifts in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators, exiting the game after only 3:12 time-on-ice due to an upper-body injury. Despite exiting the game early, Draisaitl managed to score a goal, giving him an absurd 11 points (2G / 9A) in his last four games. Unfortunately for the Oilers, that will likely mark the final time Draisaitl plays this season, ending the 2025-26 campaign with 97 points (35G / 62A) in 65 outings. Expect to see an increase in opportunistic deployment for Matt Savoie and Vasily Podkolzin with Draisaitl unavailable.

Leon Draisaitl
Ingram will start vs. San Jose on Tuesday.

Oilers' Head Coach Kris Knoblauch recently stated Ingram is the team's starting goalie, as evident by his impending return to the crease on Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks for his seventh start in the team's last 10 games. The 28-year-old Ingram was stellar in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators, saving 26 of 27 shots (.963 SV%). He has a 2.68 GAA and .895 SV% in his last seven appearances (4-1-1). The Oilers enter Tuesday's contest as -162 home favourites against a Sharks team coming off a 7-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Despite exiting the game early, Draisaitl managed to score a goal, giving him an absurd 11 points (2G / 9A) in his last four games. The team has yet to give insight into the severity of Draisaitl's ailment, but he will miss at least one game, beginning with Tuesday's contest against the San Jose Sharks.
