Kapanen is battling an undisclosed injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. The 29-year-old Kapanen was averaging 12:17 time-on-ice and had two points (0G / 2A) in six games before his injury. David Tomasek drew into the lineup as Kapanen's replacement earlier this week.

The Oilers have been inconsistent to start the 2025-26 season, scoring only 18 goals (2.57 GF / GP) through seven games (3-3-1), totals that are not aligned with an offense led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Pickard will be between the pipes on Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens, looking to build on a 2.54 GAA and .865 SV% through two games (1-1-0). The Oilers enter Thursday's action as sizable -216 home favorites against a Montreal Canadiens team that played last night, defeating the Calgary Flames 2-1 in overtime.

Stecher has played four of six games for the Oilers this season, but will return to the sidelines on Tuesday as a healthy scratch against the Ottawa Senators. The 31-year-old Stecher is exiting the lineup to accommodate the season debut of Jake Walman (undisclosed).

Kapanen is battling an undisclosed injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future, beginning with Tuesday's contest against the Ottawa Senators. The 29-year-old Kapanen was averaging 12:17 time-on-ice and had two points (0G / 2A) in six games before his injury. David Tomasek will draw back into the lineup as Kapanen's replacement.

Tomasek was a healthy scratch in Edmonton's most recent game, but he will return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. The Oilers have lost four of their first six games (2-3-1) despite receiving adequate goaltending. Skinner has a 1-2-1 record through four outings but has been reliable between the pipes, posting a 2.23 GAA and .910 SV%. The Oilers are only averaging 2.5 goals per game, bottom-five in the NHL, and hope to inflate those totals on Tuesday, facing off against an Ottawa Senators team allowing a league-worst 5.0 goals per game through six contests (2-4-0). The Oilers enter the matchup as -123 road favorites.

Walman signed a seven-year contract worth $7 million AAV at the beginning of October but has not played a game yet in the 2025-26 season. He will make his debut on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. The 29-year-old Walman had a goal, eight points and a +5 plus/minus in 15 games with the Oilers last season after being acquired at the Trade Deadline from San Jose.

Howard has been held pointless in his first four NHL games and has seen his ice time decrease in the last two games. He'll be replaced by Curtis Lazar, who will be making his Oilers debut on Saturday.

Lazar spent last season with the Devils, scoring two goals and three assists in 48 games. He'll make his Oilers debut tonight, replacing Ike Howard on the fourth line.

The Oilers will turn to Skinner between the pipes for the third time this season when they travel to Long Island on Thursday. Skinner was spectacular in his last outing, stopping all 30 shots he faced in a 2-0 shutout win over the Rangers on Tuesday. He's a good bet to stay in the win column on Thursday, as the Oilers enter action at -165 on the money line.
