Rookie F Brad Malone has been called up from Lake Erie and will join the Avalanche on Friday in Edmonton.

Malone was a late cut from training camp and figures to make an impact at the NHL level. In his first AHL season, the former University of North Dakota standout scored four goals and 13 points.

Mike Smith will be back in goal for the Coyotes after taking off Tuesday night’s game at Nashville, which Phoenix won, 3-2, behind 30 saves by backup goalie Jason LaBarbera.

Mike Smith will start in goal for the Coyotes, who have won two games in a row after a humbling 5-0 loss to Vancouver on Nov. 25. Smith stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 4-1 win at Chicago on Tuesday after shutting out Dallas on Saturday.

In 11 career starts against the Jets, Smith holds a 7-4-0 record with a 2.44 GAA and .910 SV%.

Mike Smith made 26 saves in that game and will likely start this game seeking his 12th win of the season. Smith has won three of his past four starts and he stopped 88 of 92 shots in those wins.

In two career appearances against the Blackhawks, Smith holds a 1-1-0 record with a 1.35 GAA, .949SV% and one shutout.

Mike Smith is expected to start in goal for the Coyotes. Smith made 19 saves vs. the Ducks in his most recent outing. Smith is 8-1-1 with a 1.87 goals-against average in his last 10 games.

By all indications, Bruan will sit while Demers will be paired with White even though Todd McLellan would not confirm anything.

Demers has played in only seven of the Sharks 15 games after playing in 75 tilts last year. In those seven he registered only two assists which is unproductive for an offensive d-man.
