The Blackhawks signed Erik Gustafsson to a one-year deal worth $800K.
With both Wyatt Kalynuk and Caleb Jones going down with injuries late in training camp, Gustafsson has been signed to play on the third pair and second power-play unit early the season. After a breakout 60-point (17G / 43A) season in 2019, Gustafsson has struggled to find a stable home. In 95 games since, Gustafsson has tallied just nine goals and 34 assists (41 points) with the Blackhawks, Flames, Flyers and Canadiens.
Byfield has been placed on IR with a left-ankle fracture; will be re-evaluated in the coming weeks.
The Kings have signed Martin Chromiak to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The Avalanche have acquired Darcy Kuemper from the Coyotes for Conor Timmins, a 2022 first-round pick and a 2024 conditional third-round pick.

Armia has become a versatile part of the Canadiens' middle-6 in recent years and signs a nice $3.35M AAV extension the day before free agency. Armia's offence fell off a bit in 2021 but has averaged 19 goals and 16 assists (35 points) per 82-games in his three years in Montreal.
The Kings have signed Trevor Moore to a two-year, $3.75 million contract extension.
Moore had a career-year in Los Angeles in 2021, scoring 10 goals with 13 assists (23 points) in 56 games. Moore became an integral part during a rebuilding year but with so many high-end prospects coming up through the ranks, his spot in 2021-22 may not be as secure.
Gustafsson will come out of the Canadiens lineup for Game 4.
