Spurgeon adds to a growing list of injured forwards. The offensive defender scored two goals and 15 points over 36 games. Look for Greg Zanon to draw back in should Spurgeon miss any playing time.

That means Bogosian will be in the Jets’ lineup as they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at RBC Center (6 p.m., TSN Jets, TSN 1290).

Bogosian will play despite delivering a questionable hit on Wednesday evening. While the former highly-touted defenseman has been solid by the Jets' standards, his six assists are a letdown to fantasy hockey owners who expected more.

Johansson had a "maintenance day," according to team spokesman Sergey Kocharov, who added that the center will make the trip with the Caps to Newark, N.J. Johansson has five goals and three assists this season.

Johansson missed today's practice but will likely play tomorrow. Through 12 games he scored five goals and eight point on pace to trump his previous career highs.

And he did. In addition to his goal, Johansson assisted on a goal by linemate Troy Brouwer, drew a penalty with an inside-out move in the first period and made a perfect centering pass to Brouwer that resulted in another Tampa penalty.

Johansson's benching was an attempt to wake up the sophomore center. The recently-turned 21-year-old certainly proved himself worthy of a scoring-line role.

Certainly appears that Marcus Johansson is healthy scratch tonight for #Caps.

After centering Alex Ovechkin most of the preseason, Johansson is beaten out of a job by Matthieu Perreault. Last season he scored 13 goals and 27 points last season, moving between the first and third line pivot. He should at least climb to the 40-point level this season.

“I think he wants to change something to get something to happen,” Johansson said. “He wants to try something new. He's the coach, so he decides.”

Doesn't sound like Johansson has fallen completely out of favor. Last season he scored 13 goals and 27 points last season, moving between the first and third line pivot. He should at least climb to the 40-point level this season.
