Texier missed the last two games due to a "non-COVID illness" but has now tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss at least two more games.

This is a huge blow for the Blue Jackets, who will also be without Zach Werenski and Elvis Merzlikins. Texier has been red-hot as of late, posting 10 points (5G / 5A) in his last 10 games.

The Canadiens have been completely decimated by injuries and COVID-19 and will likely have to play with 11 forwards and five defensemen on Saturday.

Gallagher missed the second half of Thursday's game in Carolina with a lower-body injury and is doubtful to play Saturday afternoon. With Gallagher out, Jesse Ylonen is expected to skate on the Canadiens' top line.

Laine has been out since November 3rd with an oblique injury but is set to play Thursday vs. the Predators. After a disappointing 2020-21 season, Laine had a hot start this year, scoring three goals and seven assists (10 points) in his first nine games before getting hurt.

Byron was nearing his season debut but that will have to wait now that he has been added to COVID-19 protocol.

Matheson was one of five players added to the protocol list on Monday, bringing the Penguins total to six. This group will likely miss at least the next two games.

Anderson's original timetable was 2-to-4 weeks but has been downgraded. Anderson will likely be out until at least the end of January/early February.

Gallagher has been out since November 29th but could return by this weekend. Gallagher won't re-join the team immediately, which suggests he won't play Thursday vs. the Flyers and is more likely for Saturday vs. the Bruins.

Evans missed Saturday's game in St. Louis but was on the ice for Monday's practice and could play Tuesday. However, he remains questionable, so monitor his status as the Canadiens hit the ice for warmups at 6:30 PM ET.
