The long-projected future goalie of the Panthers, Jacob Markstrom, 23, continues to be maddeningly inconsistent, and will most likely head back to the minors when Thomas returns to the lineup against Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.

Markstrom is 1-5-3 with a 3.36 GAA and .877 SV% in eight starts this season. In 37 careers starts (42 appearances) Markstrom is 11-24-5 with a 3.16 GAA and .899 SV%.

The Red WIngs have recalled Luke Glendening from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Glendening has no points and a minus-2 rating in six games with the Red Wings this season. He has split time between the NHL and AHL, he has three goals and three assists in eight games with Grand Rapids. The Wings are dealing with injuries down the middle right now, Glendening could see his most playing time of the season tomorrow in Tampa Bay.

The Red Wings have recalled Luke Glendening from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Glendening has not recorded a point in five games with the Red Wings this season. In the AHL he has scored once and added two assists in five games. With Johan Franzen dealing with an injury, Glendening has been recalled to provide forward depth on their western Canada road-trip.

Tatar has been moved into the Red Wings top-6.

Tatar has been either a healthy scratch or a third liner to this point, but this morning Mike Babcock had him skating with Henrik Zetterberg and Johan Franzen. Don't buy too much into this until he plays with them in a game, but after an embarassing 6-1 loss the other night, don't be surprised if Babcock keeps this shake-up intact tomorrow vs. New York.

Markstrom gets the nod for the Panthers.

Markstrom will start his first game since October 15th, when he allowed four goals on 30 shots in a losing effort vs. Nashville. The last time Tim Thomas went down with an injury, Markstrom didn’t play great, but he has a solid matchup vs. Buffalo tonight – He is risky, but it could work out.

Markstrom will start tomorrow vs. Tampa Bay.

After Tim Thomas left yesterday's contest with a groin injury, Markstrom came in and was excellent in relief. He turned aside all 25 shots he faced, but the Panthers could only get one passed Steve Mason. He will be the starter as long as Thomas is out, but the injury is not expected to be long term.

Mike Babcock said he'll decide later if Tomas Tatar will play tonight for Red Wings, but it sure sounded like he's in after morning skate.

Tatar could enter the lineup in either Mikael Samuelsson or Todd Bertuzzi's spot in the Red Wings lineup. Samuelsson played just two shifts in the third period yesterday, so he would seem like the most likely candidate.
