Markstrom will start Thursday in Arizona.

Markstrom's strong performance on Tuesday, saving 30 of 33 shots (.909 SV%), helped the Flames snap a two-game losing streak and will return to the crease on Thursday. Since returning from a fractured finger injury last month, Markstrom has quietly drawn together a solid stretch of play, posting a stellar .931 SV% in eight games (5-3-0). The Flames are -122 road favourites on Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes, who snapped a three-game losing streak in their last contest with a 4-3 overtime victory over the Boston Bruins.

Hughes (upper body) will be out week-to-week.

Hughes and the Devils avoided a much worse prognosis on Tuesday morning, but the star forward will still be out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis as he recovers from an upper-body injury. Hughes has already missed six games this season with a separate injury and provides another blow to an injury-depleted Devils club that is already without Timo Meier, Jonas Siegenthaler, Dougie Hamilton, and Ondrej Palat. Dawson Mercer has moved into the top six and onto the top powerplay unit and should be the main benefactor of offensive deployment during Hughes' absence.

Markstrom will start Tuesday vs. Ottawa.

Markstrom did not play in the back end of a back-to-back on Sunday, a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, but will return to the crease on Tuesday versus the Ottawa Senators. Markstrom has quietly amassed several strong performances since returning from a fractured finger injury last month, boasting a tremendous .935 SV% in seven games (4-3-0). The Flames, losers of two straight, are -123 home favourites against a Senators club that has lost three straight, being outscored 13-5.

Siegenthaler (broken foot) has been placed on the Injured Reserve.

Siegenthaler has been placed on IR, prompting the Devils to recall Cal Foote from the Utica Comets of the AHL. Siegenthaler played only 9:34 time-on-ice before exiting the last game and joins a concerningly large list of noteworthy Devils players that are injured, including Jack Hughes, Timo Meier, Ondrej Palat, and fellow defenseman Dougie Hamilton.

Jonas Siegenthaler
Hughes left Friday's game against the Blackhawks late in the third period and did not return.

Hughes left for the locker room with only a couple of minutes remaining in the game, and it's unclear at this time whether or not the injury would have prevented him from returning to the game. His status for Saturday's game his brother Quinn and the Canucks is currently unknown.

Jack Hughes
Palat (lower-body) will not play in Washington on Wednesday.

Palat was a late scratch for Wednesday's game against the Capitals, with the team only announcing his absence about 30 minutes before puck drop. Palat has five goals and nine assists in 35 games this season. His next chance to return to the lineup will be on Friday when New Jersey hosts the Blackhawks.

Ondrej Palat
Daws will start in Washington on Wednesday.

Daws played well and collected a win in his season debut last week, saving 25 of 27 saved (.926 SV%) in a 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. Daws' performance in his debut marked only the second time in the last eight games that a Devils goalie allowed fewer than three goals. Given the well-documented struggles of New Jersey's goaltending tandem of Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid, another strong performance for Daws on Wednesday could go a long way in securing him more playing time down the stretch. The Devils have lost both contests against the Washington Capitals this season (0-2-0), being outscored 10-6, but are -181 road favourites on Wednesday.

Jacob Markstrom will start Tuesday in Minnesota.

Markstrom will likely return the crease for his sixth straight start on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Swedish netminder is amid his best stretch of the play since returning from a fractured finger injury two weeks ago, posting an excellent .931 SV% in five games (3-2-0). The Flames are slight -112 road favourites against a Minnesota Wild team that defeated them 3-2 in a shootout on December 14th but has lost two straight games and will be without Kiril Kaprizov and starting goalie Filip Gustavsson.
