Daws started his 2021-22 season by stopping 25 of 27 shots in a win in his AHL debut. The 2020 third-round selection spent last season in Germany, where he was 4-6-0 with a 2.90 GAA and .897 SV%. There's no indication why Daws was called up because now the Devils have three goalies on the active roster.

Hughes dislocated his left shoulder on Tuesday night but an MRI revealed no further damage, and he does not require surgery at this time. According to the Devils, he has begun physical therapy and will be re-evaluated next week. Hughes was also moved to injured reserve.

Hughes fell awkwardly after absorbing a hit in Tuesday's win over the Kraken. Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters post-game that Hughes is day-to-day for now but will be evaluated further on Wednesday. The Devils are back in action on Thursday, so there's a good chance he misses the game vs. the Capitals.

With the Panthers adding a bunch of bodies up front in recent months, Lammikko was set to lose his roster spot in 2022. The 25-year-old forward had four goals and one assist (five points) in 44 games with the Panthers a season ago but is known more for his defensive game and penalty killing abilities. With Brandon Sutter and Tyler Motte both out to start the season, Lammikko has a good chance to make an impression early.
