New Jersey Devils News

Markstrom is expected to start in Ottawa on Tuesday.

After starting the season with a league-best 8-1-0 record, the Devils have gone 8-11-1 since, tied heavily to the absence of superstar forward Jack Hughes (hand). Unfortunately for the Devils, Markstrom has not been able to solidify his game while the team has struggled offensively, allowing three or more goals in eight of his last nine games (4-4-1). The 35-year-old veteran goalie has an ugly 3.51 GAA and .876 SV% in 14 games this season (7-6-1). The Devils enter Tuesday's contest as +124 road underdogs against an Ottawa Senators team that has lost four of its last five (1-4-0).

Tsyplakov will be a healthy scratch vs. Vegas on Tuesday.

With Jean-Gabriel Pageau (upper body) returning to the lineup, Tsyplakkov will head to the press box as a healthy scratch. The 27-year-old Tsyplakov was impressive in his first NHL season in 2024-25, scoring 39 points (10G / 35A) in 77 games, but has been largely unnoticeable in 2025-26, scoring just one point (1G / 0A) in 20 games.

Markstrom will start vs. Vegas on Friday.

Markstrom and the Devils are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Dallas Stars, where Markstrom allowed three goals on 28 shots (.893 SV%), but he will return to the crease on Friday looking to redeem himself against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 35-year-old Markstrom has struggled this season, earning quality starts in a career-worst 25 percent of games, posting an ugly 3.55 GAA and .875 SV% through 13 outings (7-5-1). The Devils enter Friday's action as +106 home underdogs against a Golden Knights team on a two-game winning streak.

Allen will start vs. Columbus on Monday.

The Devils have been inconsistent, 4-4-0 since Jack Hughes (hand) was sidelined, and have lost two of three with Allen tending the twine. That said, Allen returns to the crease on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Besides a recent blip, Allen has been the more reliable of netminders for the Devils, posting a solid 2.27 GAA and .919 SV% in 13 games this season (8-4-0). The Devils enter Monday's contest as -143 home favorites against a Blue Jackets team that has lost four straight (0-1-3).

Allen will start in Buffalo on Friday.

The Devils have struggled with Jack Hughes (hand) out of the lineup, but two strong performances from Jacob Markstrom, saving 53 of 58 combined shots (.914 SV%), have led them to a two-game winning streak. That said, the Devils will flip the script, turning to 35-year-old Jake Allen to tend the twine on Friday against a Buffalo Sabres team that has scored four or more goals in five of their last six games (4-2-0). Allen has not played since allowing six goals on 29 shots (.793 SV%) in a 6-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on November 22nd. He has a 2.46 GAA and .908 SV% in 12 games this season (7-4-0).
