Markstrom is expected to start Saturday in Toronto.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Canucks 2-0 loss in Montreal on Thursday. Markstrom hasn’t lost two in a row since November 27/29 but that could happen tonight in Toronto. The Maple Leafs are one of the most dangerous teams in the NHL and the Canucks will be without their star rookie Elias Pettersson.

Bernier surrendered three goals on 33 shots in the Red Wings loss in Philadelphia on Tuesday. With Jimmy Howard still battling a sore back, Bernier will start for the third straight game. Bernier has lost four straight starts while posting a 2.79 GAA and .908 SV%. Tonight he faces a Hurricanes team that has lost six of their last eight games (2-4-2) while averaging 2.63 goals for per game.

Bernier allowed three goals on 19 shots in a 3-2 loss in his first start against the Islanders (Dec.8).
