Bernier will start Saturday vs. the Kings.

Bernier allowed three goals on 29 shots after replacing the injured Garret Sparks in the Maple Leafs loss to the Sharks on Thursday. Bernier is still searching for his fist win of the season. He has allowed three-plus goals in seven of his 11 games and comes into Saturday at 0-8-3 with a 3.46 GAA and .883 SV% on the season. Until he regains his old form, he can’t be trusted in any format.

He returns to the Maple Leafs in search of his first NHL win of the season—his first start comes against a banged up Lightning team that has still managed to win four of their last six.

Palat has been sidelined since November 7th with a lower-body injury but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Senators. Palat will play in his usual spot on a line with Tyler Johnson and Nikita Kucherov as well as the top power play unit. Palat has seven points (2G / 5A) in 16 games this season.

Markstrom allowed two goals on 38 shots in the Canucks loss in Los Angeles on Tuesday. It was a great outing, but Ryan Miller still started on Thursday. However, tonight it will be Markstrom against a Bruins team playing their second game in as many nights. Markstrom comes into play at 1-1-2 with a 2.83 GAA and .917 SV%. He makes for an interesting spot-start.

The Maple Leafs will send Jonathan Bernier to Toronto (AHL) for a 10-day conditioning stint.

As soon as James Reimer is deemed healthy, Bernier will be sent to the Marlies for a 10-day conditioning stint. Bernier has struggled mightily this season, going 0-8-1 with a 3.28 GAA and .888 SV% this season. He will start a few games with the Marlies while trying to get his confidence back.

With James Reimer playing very well right now, Bernier will need a good outing tonight—however, he will be in tough vs. the red-hot Rangers.

Bernier missed the last five games with a lower-body injury and despite saying that he is not 100 percent, he has been activated from IR and will be available in some capacity on Thursday. James Reimer has played very well with Bernier out, so expected Reimer to go again on Thursday with Bernier serving as his backup.
