New York Islanders News

In goal, the Avs' Semyon Varlamov will oppose the Wings' Jimmy Howard.

Varlamov played amazing, making some spectacular saves in a 34-save shutout performance vs. the Predators on Saturday. He will get the nod tonight on the road vs. the Red Wings. He is 0-11-2 with a 3.64 GAA and .889 SV% away from the Pepsi Center this season.

Anders Lee has signed a two-year deal with the #Isles and will be in Newark for morning skate.

Lee just finished up his junior year at the University of Notre Dame. He had 20 goals and 18 assists in 41 games this season. He totaled 61 goals and 55 assists (116 points) in 125 games at Notre Dame. It is unlikely that he will play for the Isles tonight, but tomorrow is a possibility.

#Canucks continue to ride the hot hand of Cory Schneider - he gets the start tonight vs the Blue Jackets.

Schneider has won four consecutive starts while posting a 1.25 GAA and .957 SV%. He has a good matchup against the Blue Jackets, he should make for a great start tonight. Especially on the hot-streak he is on.

Roberto Luongo said he hadn’t been told who was starting in goal Saturday against the Kings, but is assuming it will be Cory Schneider. “Why would I be playing? Schneids is standing on his head right now,” Luongo said.

Schneider has won two straight with a 1.51 GAA and .956 SV%. Schneider has a fairly tough matchup vs. the Kings.

Semyon Varlamov will start in goal.

Varlamov was lit up for five goals on 32 shots vs. the Blackhawks. It has come to be expected that a goalie facing Chicago is a dangerous fantasy play, so hopefully you left him on your bench on Monday. He will be back between the pipes today with a much easier matchup vs. the Stars. However Varlamov is just 2-5-1 with a 3.10 GAA and .906 SV% in March, so start with caution.

Cory Schneider starts tonight versus #blues

Schneider hasn't started since March 10th, and has lost his last three consecutive starts. In those three losses he posted a 2.57 GAA and .910 SV%. He has a tough matchup tonight vs. a Blues team that has won five of their last six games. It should be a good goaltending matchup with Schneider going head-to-head with the red-hot Jake Allen.

Semyon Varlamov, whose save percentage has been under .900 in each of his last three appearances, will start in goal.

Varlamov relieved J.S. Giguere in the Avalanche's last game, he gave up two goals on 12 shots. Varlamov has seen 712 shots this season which is fourth amongst NHL goalies and he has stopped 648 (.910 SV%) of them. He has seen a lot of rubber this season because the Avs are not great defensively. They will face the Blackhawks for the first time since they ended their long point streak tonight.
