Kyle Palmieri has been placed on the injured reserve (upper body).

Palmieri has played one game since Nov.21st due to an upper-body injury that has reaggrivated itself and has been placed on the injured reserve after playing 10:46 in a game vs. Arizona Friday. The 31-year-old veteran winger has six goals, nine points and 39 SOG through 21 games prior to hitting the shelf again due to injury.

Semyon Varlamov has been placed on the injured reserve (lower body).

Varlamov stopped 35 of 37 shots before leaving Saturday's game in Vegas with a lower-body injury and will head to the injured reserve. The Islanders recalled Cory Schneider from the AHL and he is expected to stay with the team until Varlamov is nursed back to full health.

Semyon Varlamov
Adam Boqvist will draw back into the Blue Jackets' lineup (foot).

Boqvist has been out since October 25th due to a foot injury but returns to the Blue Jackets' lineup Friday as they take on Chicago. The 22-year-old could only get four games under his belt before the injury and had no points, three SOG and a -1 plus/minus. He had 11 goals, 11 assists, and 64 SOG in 2021-22 as one of the best offensive options on Columbus' blue line.

Adam Boqvist
Ilya Sorokin will start Thursday vs. the New York Rangers.

Sorokin was perfect in his last start, stopping all 46 of 46 shots to pick up his third shutout of the season in a rare shootout loss vs. Colorado in his last game. Sorokin has been the Islanders' brightest spot this season, as he has led them between the pipes with his 10-10-1 record, 2.36 GAA and .926 SV%. He will take on the New York Rangers, who just snapped a seven-game winning streak with a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh in their last game.

Cal Clutterbuck has been placed on the injured reserve

Clutterbuck missed the Islanders' previous game due to an upper-body injury and will now head to the injured reserve retroactive to 12/16. The 35-year-old had just recently become the all-time hits leader in the NHL and has three goals, five points, 14 PIMs and a +4 plus/minus in 26 games prior to the injury.

Cal Clutterbuck
David Rittich will start Tuesday vs. the Ottawa Senators.

Rittich stopped 31 of 34 shots (.912 SV%) as he picked up the loss vs. Seattle in his previous start Sunday. The Jets' backup has struggled this season, with his 4-3-0 record, 2.77 GAA and .896 SV%. He will take on Ottawa, who just snapped a four-game winning streak with a 4-2 loss vs. Minnesota in their last game.

David Rittich
Liam Foudy will draw back into the Blue Jackets' lineup Tuesday vs. Philadelphia.

Foudy has been a healthy scratch for the previous two games but will draw back into the lineup after it was announced that Yegor Chinakhov would be out indefinitely. The 2018 1st round pick (18th overall) has failed to produce so far this season, with only three assists, seven SOG and a -10 plus/minus through 15 games this season.

Liam Foudy
Sorokin will start Monday in Colorado.

Sorokin came in for an odd one save on one shot relief performance in the Islanders' previous matchup, as he came in for an injured Semyon Varlamov and saw limited action in 6:22 TOI vs. Vegas. The 27-year-old has been a rock for the Islanders this season, with his 10-10-0 record, 2.49 GAA and .921 SV%. He will take on the Colorado Avalanche, who have won three of their last four game after a 3-1 victory over Nashville in their last game.

Ilya Sorokin
Cal Clutterbuck is day-to-day and will not play Monday with an upper-body injury.

Clutterbuck missed the Islanders' previous game due to an upper-body injury and is now considered day-to-day with the injury. The 35-year-old had just recently became the all-time hits leader in the NHL and has three goals, five points, 14 PIMs and a +4 plus/minus in 26 games prior to the injury.

Kyle Palmieri is day-to-day and will not play Monday (upper body).

Palmieri has played one game since Nov.21st due to an upper-body injury that has reaggrivated itself and is considered day-to-day after playing 10:46 in a game vs. Arizona Friday. The 31-year-old veteran winger has six goals, nine points and 39 SOG through 21 games prior to hitting the shelf again due to injury.

Ilya Sorokin will start Friday vs. the Arizona Coyotes.

The Islanders will not hold a morning skate in Arizona on Friday, so we'll have to rely on Thursday's practice for information. It looks like Ilya Sorokin will get the start, which makes sense since Semyon Varlamov started in Boston on Tuesday. Sorokin is riding a four-game losing skid, having allowed 12 goals on 108 shots (.889 SV%). He takes on the Coyotes, who are 28th in the NHL in goals for (2.74) and last in shots (23.5).

Kyle Palmieri has been activated off the injured reserve and should be in the Islanders' lineup Friday (upper body).

Palmieri has not played since Nov.21st due to an upper-body injury but will be a game-time decision to return Friday vs. Arizona. The 31-year-old veteran winger has six goals, nine points and 37 SOG through 20 games prior to hitting the shelf due to injury.
