The Islanders have signed Ryan Pulock to an eight-year deal worth $49.2 million ($6.15M AAV).
Pulock is one half of one of the most underrated D-pairings in the NHL. Pulock has an absolutely cannon for a shot but his offensive numbers have been limited by playing a shutdown role next to Adam Pelech. Pulock has averaged nine goals and 27 assists (36 points) per 82 games over the last four seasons.
Gauthier will draw into the Rangers lineup on Thursday.

Sorokin is expected to start the Islanders season opener in Carolina.
Martin (ankle) is unlikely to play in the Islanders’ season opener.
Martin is not expected to play on Thursday but he will travel with the team to Carolina, so he may not be sidelined for too long. With Martin out, Ross Johnston is expected to draw into the lineup.
Varlamov (undisclosed) will travel to Carolina but is not expected to be ready for the start of the season.
Varlamov is expected to miss the start of the season but will travel with the team on their lengthy road trip, which is a good sign that he isn’t far. With Varlamov out, Ilya Sorokin should start almost every game with Jakub Skarek as his backup.
The Islanders have signed Andy Andreoff to a one-year, two-way contract.
Andreoff was limited to nine games a season ago, six with the Flyers and three with the Phantoms (AHL). The 30-year-old forward will likely report to Bridgeport (AHL) to start the 2021-22 season. He has 25 points (13G / 12A) in 179 career NHL games with the Kings and Flyers.
The Islanders have re-signed Cole Bardreau to a two-year, two-way contract.
Bardreau was one of a few depth moves the Islanders announced today. The 28-year-old has spent 288 games in the AHL, only playing 10 with the Islanders since turning pro in 2015. He will start the 2021-22 season with Bridgeport.
The Islanders have re-signed Casey Cizikas to a six-year contract.
The Islanders have re-signed Kyle Palmieri to a four-year, $20 million contract.
The Islanders have re-signed Ilya Sorokin to a three-year, $12 million contract.
The Islanders have re-signed Adam Pelech to an eight-year contract worth $46.0 million ($5.75M AAV).
The Coyotes have re-signed Hudson Fasching to a one-year, two-way contract.
The Hurricanes have signed Tony DeAngelo to a one-year, $1.0M contract.
The Bruins have re-signed Mike Reilly to a three-year deal worth $9.0 million ($3.0M AAV).
The Blue Jackets have acquired Adam Boqvist, the No.12 overall pick, a 2021 second-round pick and a 2022 first-round pick from the Blackhawks for Seth Jones, the No.32 overall pick and a 2022 sixth-round pick.
Boqvist was the No.8 overall pick in 2018 and enjoyed some success in his first full NHL season in 2021. The 20-year-old had two goals with 14 assists (16 points) in 35 games with the Blackhawks last year and will likely see a massive workload increase in 2021-22. Boqvist could replace Jones on the Blue Jackets' top-pairing with Zach Werenski.
$125 Waivers
The Rangers have placed Anthony DeAngelo on unconditional waivers for purpose of buying out his contract.
DeAngelo's future with the Rangers ended after a reported physical altercation with Alexandar Georgiev in January. He was officially bought out on Saturday and will save the Rangers $4.4M in 2021-22 but cost them $883K in 2022-23.
The Islanders have acquired Richard Panik and the No.52 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft from the Red Wings for Nick Leddy.
Panik was dealt to Detroit as a part of the Anthony Mantha trade at least year's deadline and had one goal and three assists in 12 games with the Red Wings. Panik has two years remaining at $2.75M AAV but the Red Wings are eating 50 percent of the deal, so the Islanders have Panik at $1.375M AAV and gain $4.125M in cap space in this deal.
The Rangers have signed Julien Gauthier to a one-year contract extension.
