Varlamov will start Tuesday vs. the Red Wings.

Varlamov allowed four goals on 40 shots in Colorado’s loss in San Jose last Friday. Philipp Grubauer started in Anaheim on Sunday but they’ll come back to Varlamov on Tuesday. Varlamov has been average as of late but is a great option vs. the Red Wings—he stopped all 24 shots that he faced in a 2-0 shutout win in his first start against Detroit.

The Senators have acquired Anthony Duclair, a 2020 second-round pick and a 2021 second-round pick from the Blue Jackets for Ryan Dzingel and a 2019 seventh-round pick.

Duclair has fallen out of favour in Columbus but is a player who possesses a lot of potential and upside. Duclair has scored 11 goals and eight assists (19 points) in 52 games this season. Duclair could play a big role in Ottawa with the team selling off most of their top players at the deadline.

Varlamov runs into a red-hot Blackhawks team, who he lost to in overtime back in late-December—allowing three goals on 37 shots.
