The Blackhawks have recalled Matthew Highmore from Rockford (AHL).

Highmore had no points in two games with the Blackhawks this season but has picked up 12 points (4G / 8A) in 21 AHL games. Andrew Shaw was placed on LTIR on Monday, opening up a roster spot and clearing cap space to bring up Highmore and Adam Boqvist.

The Senators have placed Craig Anderson on IR.

Anderson started Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia but left injured early in the first period. Anderson was hurt on a goal that ended up being disallowed on an offside review. With the veteran netminder on IR again, Anders Nilsson will be the primary starter with Marcus Hogberg coming up from Belleville to serve as his backup.

Anderson will start Saturday in Philadelphia.

Anderson allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Senators win in Edmonton on Wednesday. Anderson has been great in his last five starts, going 3-2-0 with a 1.82 GAA and .933 SV%. It could be difficult for him to keep it going against a Flyers team that has won five of their last six while scoring 3.67 goals per game.

Anderson (lower-body) will return to the Senators crease on Wednesday.

Anderson allowed one goal on 19 shots in the Senators loss in Columbus on November 25th. He ended up missing the next four games with a lower-body injury but will start Wednesday in Edmonton. While the Oilers don’t have a ton of scoring depth, facing them in Edmonton on a back-to-back with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in the lineup makes Anderson a super risky start on Wednesday.

The Blackhawks have recalled Dennis Gilbert from Rockford (AHL).

Gilbert could dress as a seventh defenseman if Dylan Strome (concussion) can't play on Thursday but could be the extra defenseman during their two-game road-trip if Strome is good-to-go in Boston. The 23-year-old has no points in three NHL games this season and just two assists in 11 AHL games this season.

He was the better of the two in November but still wasn't great, going 3-4-1 with a 3.29 GAA and .894 SV% in eight outings. He hasn't been great but draws a nice matchup on Monday--New Jersey has lost four of their last six (2-4-0) while scoring 2.50 goals per game.
