Philadelphia Flyers News

Vladar is in the starter's crease at the Flyers' morning skate.

The Flyers can clinch a playoff berth with a win on Monday and will turn to Vladar to tend the twine against the Carolina Hurricanes. Vladar had a poor showing last week, allowing four goals on eight shots (.500 SV%) in a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, but immediately responded by saving 27 of 28 (.964 SV%) in his next outing, a 7-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets. Besides his recent blip, the 28-year-old Czech goalie has been tremendous lately, allowing just one goal in four of his last five games (4-1-0). The Flyers enter Monday's contest as -111 home favourites against a Hurricanes team that has scored four or more goals in six of their last seven games (6-1-0).

Vladar will start in Detroit on Thursday.

Vladar allowed five goals on 17 shots (.706 SV%) last week in a disappointing 6-4 loss to the Washington Capitals, but has quickly returned to form, winning three straight while saving an impressive 62 of 65 shots (.954 SV%). The 28-year-old Czech goalie has won 10 of 16 games (10-5-1) since returning from the Olympic break, posting a solid 2.27 GAA and .911 SV% to help his team battle for a playoff spot. The Flyers enter Thursday's contest as slight +106 road underdogs against a struggling Detroit Red Wings team that last won 4-2 against the Flyers one week ago.

Vladar will start in New Jersey on Tuesday.

Some good fortune and two outstanding games from Vladar have catapulted the Flyers into third place in the Metropolitan Division, and they will look to solidify their positioning on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. The 28-year-old Vladar will return to the crease on Tuesday, looking to build on the 0.98 GAA and .951 SV% he has in his last two games (2-0-0). The Flyers enter Tuesday's contest as +108 road underdogs against a surging Devils team that is 2-0-1 in its last three games.

Vladar will start on Long Island on Friday.

With only seven games remaining this season, the Flyers, desperately battling to remain within playoff contention, will turn to Vladar on Friday against the New York Islanders. The 28-year-old Czech goalie has been a steadying presence between the pipes all season, but he is coming off a disappointing performance, allowing five goals on 17 shots (.706 SV%) in a 6-4 loss to the Washington Capitals. The loss marked only the second time in the last 16 appearances that Vladar had allowed more than three goals in a game (8-5-3). The Flyers enter Friday's contest as +123 road underdogs against an Islanders team that has been outscored 12-6 in their last two games (0-2-0).

Foerster (hand) is expected to return vs. Detroit on Thursday.

Foerster has not played in over four months due to a hand injury, but will return to the Flyers' lineup on Thursday to provide an offensive boost in a pivotal matchup for the playoff hopes against the Detroit Red Wings. Before his injury, the 24-year-old Foerster had 13 points (10G / 3A) in 21 games. He is expected to play alongside Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett.
