Pittsburgh Penguins News

Silovs was the first goalie off the ice at Sunday's morning skate.

Stuart Skinner has not impressed since joining the Penguins, and it appears that the team will turn to Arturs Silovs in their first game back after the Holiday Break. The 24-year-old Silovs has a 3.22 GAA and .887 SV% in 16 games this season (5-5-6). He has allowed three or more goals in six straight outings (1-3-2).

Skinner will start in Toronto on Tuesday.

Skinner’s introduction with the Penguins has been a messy one, allowing eight goals on 42 combined shots (.810 SV%) in his first two games with Pittsburgh—both losses (0-2-0). He searches for his first victory with the Penguins on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Penguins enter Tuesday’s contest as +110 road underdogs against a struggling Maple Leafs team that has been outscored 14-4 in their last three games (0-3-0).

Zamula has cleared waivers and been assigned to Lehigh Valley (AHL).

Zamula was waived by Philadelphia on Thursday and went unclaimed on Friday leading to his inevitable demotion to Lehigh Valley (AHL). The 25-year-old had only appeared in one game since December 3rd after appearing in an average of 65 games over the last two seasons and had one assist in 13 games played this season. He will now provide Philadelphia with defensive depth from the minors as he works to make his way back up to the big club.

Silovs will start in Ottawa on Thursday.

Stuart Skinner struggled in his Penguins' debut, a 6-4 loss to his former team, the Edmonton Oilers, and as such, they will turn to Silovs on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators. Silovs has been inconsistent between the pipes for the Penguins this season, posting a 3.20 GAA and .890 SV% in 14 games (4-4-6). The 24-year-old Latvian goalie has lost six straight decisions (0-2-4) while posting a 3.35 GAA and .850 SV%. The Penguins enter Thursday's game as +146 road underdogs against a Senators team that has scored three or fewer goals in five of their last six games (2-4-0).

Skinner will start vs. Edmonton on Tuesday.

Last week, the Penguins acquired Skinner in a trade from the Edmonton Oilers. After a delayed Visa process, he will make his Pittsburgh debut on Tuesday against his former team. The 27-year-old Skinner will be motivated to have a strong performance against the team that traded him, but it's unclear what the Penguins will get out of a goalie who has battled with consistency issues. Skinner had a 2.83 GAA and .891 SV% in 23 games with Edmonton this season (11-8-4), and was ironically moved after his most consistent stretch, posting a solid 2.15 GAA and .913 SV% in his last seven games (4-2-1). The Penguins enter Tuesday's contest as +123 home underdogs against an Oilers team coming off a 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.

Clifton is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday vs. Edmonton.

With Jack St. Ivany (lower body) and Brett Kulak (trade) making their Pittsburgh season debut's, Connor Clifton and Ryan Graves will head to the sidelines as healthy scratches. The 30-year-old Clifton has zero points through 14 games, but is more known for his physical contributions, as evident by his 57 hits.

St. Ivany is expected to draw into Pittsburgh's lineup vs. Edmonton on Tuesday.

St. Ivany was battling a lower-body injury that kept him sidelined for several months. He made his 2025-26 debut while on a conditioning loan with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) last week, scoring five points (1G / 4A) in five games. He makes his season debut with Pittsburgh on Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers.

Kulak is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday vs. Edmonton.

Kulak was acquired in a trade from the Edmonton Oilers last week and will draw into Pittsburgh's lineup on Tuesday for his team debut in a meeting against his former team. An NHL veteran of over 600 games, Kulak was a regular presence this season on the Oilers' third defensive pair, averaging 17:42 time-on-ice through 31 games.
