Shea has seen minimal action lately, not suiting up for Pittsburgh since December, and has been reassigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Shea has zero points in 22 games with Pittsburgh this season. In a corresponding move, Pittsburgh has recalled Jack St. Ivany.

St. Ivany was the fourth-round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and has yet to play an NHL game. The 24-year-old California-born defenseman has spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL), tallying 12 points (4G / 8A) in 52 games. In a corresponding move, Ryan Shea has been reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Alexeyev will draw right back into the Capitals lineup after sitting out Wednesday's game in Edmonton. Ethan Bear will sit in his place.

Kevin Shattenkirk will be a healthy scratch on Thursday, allowing Wotherspoon to re-enter the lineup after a two-game absence. Wotherspoon has six points (0G / 6A), 63 hits, and 54 blocks in 32 games this season.

With Thatcher Demko sidelined for the next few weeks, Vancouver recalled Silovs from Abbotsford (AHL). Silovs played five games in Vancouver last season but has spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign with Abbotsford, posting a 2.74 GAA and .907 SV% in 33 games (15-11-6). The 22-year-old Silovs is unlikely to see much, if any, action with Vancouver and will likely serve exclusively as Casey DeSmith's backup.

The Penguins are desperate for a win and will turn to Jarry between the pipes for the fourth time in the last five games. Jarry has allowed three or more goals in each of his last four games (1-3-0), including four on 42 shots (.905 SV%) in a 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. The Penguins have been outscored by an alarming 15-1 score over their last three games (0-3-0) and enter action as slight -115 road favourites against the Ottawa Senators.
