The Red Wings have recalled Anthony Mantha from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Martha, 21, was the 20th overall pick in 2013 and has had a strong season with Grand Rapids. The 6-foot-5 winger has picked up 45 points (21G / 24 A) in 56 games after posting just 33 points in his first season with the Griffins. The Red Wings offence has been sputtering as of late, so an infusion of size and skill upfront might be exactly what they need.

Malkin (lower-body) will return to the Penguins lineup on Saturday.

Malkin missed 10 games with a knee injury, but will return to the Penguins lineup on Saturday vs. the Jets. Malkin has 23 goals and 26 assists (49 points) in 52 games this season and should be activated in all formats. The Jets have given up 17 goals in their last four games, so this matchup offers a lot of promise for Malkin.

The Red Wings have recalled Xavier Ouellet from Grand Rapids (AHL).

With Jonathan Ericsson questionable for Sunday's game, it looks like the Red Wings will give Ouellet a shot to make his season debut instead of reinserting Jakub Kindl into the lineup. Ouellet has 17 points (3G / 14A) In 38 games with Grand Rapids this season and three points (2G / 1A) in 25 career NHL games.

Malkin will miss the next two games with a nagging undisclosed injury.

The Penguins have a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday, but Malkin will not be available. This is a tough blow for the Penguins, who also lost Eric Fehr on Tuesday, so they will need to recall a centre from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). Monitor Malkin’s status heading into next week.

Carter (upper-body) is expected to return to the Kings lineup on Thursday.

Carter has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, but he has taken part in line rushes the last two days, which suggests that he will return tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. Carter has 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) in 34 games this season.
