The Senators’ first-round pick in 2015 (No.21 overall) was hurt during their preseason win over the Maple Leafs. The Senators have no released a statement on White’s injury, but the initial prognosis was not encouraging. White was expected to battle for a roster spot in training camp, but this injury will likely see the 20-year-old start the season in Binghamton (AHL).
Orlov is an impressive defenseman that combines high-end skating with physicality and offence. The Russian blueliner had six goals and 27 assists (33 points) in 82 games last season and should be able to post consistent 30-plus point seasons going forward.
Bowers won’t blow you away with his offensive numbers like others in this draft class, but plays an excellent two-way game. Bowers had 22 goals and 29 assists (51 points) in 60 games with the Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL) this season and looks like a low-risk draft pick.
Liljegren was a projected top 3 pick at the start of the season, but had a rough year, which started with mono. Missing eight weeks hurt his production and his draft stock, but the Leafs land a talented offensive-defenseman that loves to get into the action.
