The Blackhawks have signed Adam Gaudette to a one-year, $997.5k contract extension.

Gaudette was acquired from the Canucks for Matthew Highmore in April and contributed one goal and three assists in seven games with the Blackhawks. Gaudette will be battling with the likes of Henrik Borgstrom, Brett Connolly and Alex Nylander for playing time in 2021-22.

The Panthers have signed Lucas Carlsson to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

Carlsson was a fourth-round pick of the Blackhawks and was traded to the Panthers as part of the deal that sent Henrik Borgstrom and Brett Connolly to Chicago. Carlssson had one assist in 12 games with the Blackhawks last year, as well as 12 points (3G / 9A) in 18 games between his two AHL homes. The Panthers don't have the strongest blueline at the moment, so he could factor into their top-6 at some point in 2021-22.

Price underwent knee surgery on Friday and his recovery period is expected to be 10-to-12 weeks.

After reports of potentially career-ending knee and hip injuries, the Canadiens received some great news on Price's status this week. He will not need surgery on his hip but underwent surgery on his knee and is expected to be ready for training camp next year. After a tough regular season, Price turned in a stellar postseason, going 13-9 with a 2.28 GAA and .924 SV%.

The Rangers have signed Barclay Goodrow to a six-year contract worth $21.85M ($3,642M AAV)

Goodrow won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning but they did not have the cap-space to keep him around for the future. He was acquired by the Rangers for a seventh-round pick on July 19th and signed a six-year extension a few days later. He brings very little offensively but will be a huge part of the Rangers' bottom-6 and penalty kill.

The Red Wings have signed Alex Nedeljkovic to a two-year contract worth $6.0 million ($3.0M AAV).

The Red Wings acquired Nedeljkovic from the Hurricanes and immediately signed him to a two-year contract. Nedeljkovic led the NHL in GAA and SV% in 2020-21 and helps solidify the Red Wings' crease moving forward and gives them a young goalie to build around.

The Red Wings have acquired Alex Nedeljkovic from the Hurricanes for Jonathan Bernier and a third-round pick.

2020-21 was a bizarre season for Nedeljkovic. He started the season on waivers, went unclaimed, and then became the Hurricanes No.1 netminder after Petr Mrazek and James Reimer battled injuries. Nedeljkovic went on to lead the NHL in both GAA (1.90) and SV% (.932) in 23 games. The Hurricanes were concerned about going to arbitration with Nedeljkovic, so the Red Wings took advantage of that with their abundance of cap space.

The Rangers have acquire Barclay Goodrow from the Lightning for a '22 7th round pick.

Goodrow is a pending UFA, so the Rangers sent a seventh-round pick to the Lightning to try and sign him ahead of free agency opening up on July 28th. Goodrow is an outstanding two-way forward who was a huge part of the Lightning's success as a bottom-6 centre. Brett Howden was sent to the Golden Knights on Saturday, so Goodrow would likely replace him if they can get him under contract.

The Flyers have acquired Ryan Ellis from the Predators for Philippe Myers and Nolan Patrick.

Ellis is heading into the third year of an eight-year contract that pays him $6.25M AAV per season. Ellis was 22nd among defensemen in points with 79 (15G / 64A) in 2019 and 2020 combined but his production fell off a bit in 2021. Still, the 30-year-old is a massive addition to the Flyers blueline and could find himself on the top pair with Ivan Provorov in 2022.

The Red Wings have acquired Nick Leddy from the Islanders for Richard Panik and the No.52 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Leddy is entering the final year of a seven-year contract that carries a $5.5M AAV cap-hit. The 30-year-old is still a serviceable top-4 defenseman that will help bridge the gap to some of the Red Wings younger prospects who may still be a year away. Detroit will also look to flip him at next year's trade deadline to try and recoup some of the draft capital lost in this trade.
