After being Seattle's undisputed starting goalie the previous two seasons, Daccord has wavered a bit in 2025-26. That said, he saved 27 of 28 shots (.964 SV%) in his most recent outing, a 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks, and finds himself amid his best stretch of the season, posting a 2.20 GAA and .926 SV% in his last six games (5-1-0). The Kraken enter the action on Monday as +155 road underdogs against a red-hot Carolina Hurricanes team that is on a five-game winning streak.

Kakko will draw back into Seattle's lineup after getting an extra day's rest on Wednesday following a busy Olympic break. Kakko has six goals and 15 assists in 40 games this season

Grubauer will make his first post-Olympic start on Thursday after serving as Joey Daccord's backup in last night's loss to the Stars. Grubauer was in the midst of a bounce-back campaign prior to the Olympic break, posting an 11-6-3 record and a .916 SV% across 22 appearances. He and the Kraken enter action on Thursday as slight underdogs at +120 on the money line.

The Kraken have been doing a lot of rotating in goal this season, but it will somewhat notably be Daccord between the pipes when they return from the Olympic break in Dallas on Wednesday. To his credit, Daccord really seemed to be finding his game prior to the break, posting a perfect 4-0-0 record and a .931 SV% across his last four starts. He'll have to be at his best again on Wednesday, as the Kraken enter a difficult road matchup at +140 on the money line.

It's unclear why Kakko is unavailable on Wednesday, though it's possible it's simply an extra day's rest after the Olympics, but the Kraken gave no indication he would be absent prior to listing him as a scratch on the official roster report. Kakko has six goals and 15 assists in 40 games this season.

With Mikko Rantanen missing Finland's Bronze Medal game on Saturday vs. Slovakia, Eeli Tolvanen will draw back into the lineup for his fifth appearances at the Olympics. The 26-year-old winger has played a complimentary role all tournament and has a goal across four games played to show for it.

Grubauer was spectacular in Germany's tournament opening win over Denmark, stopping 37 of the 38 shots he faced to earn the 3-1 win. He'll go again this morning against a Latvia team coming off of a 5-1 loss to the United States on Thursday. Grubauer and Germany are sizeable favourites to move to 2-0-0.

Grubauer has enjoyed a resurgent 2025-26 season, going 11-6-3 with a 2.43 GAA and .916 SV% in 22 games for the Seattle Kraken. He also played very well the last time he represented Germany, going 2-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA and .930 SV% at the 2025 World Championships.
