Murray leads the Penguins onto the ice for warmups.

Murray gave up give goals on 34 shots in the Penguins’ opening night loss to St. Louis. The following night he replaced Antti Niemi in Chicago and proceeded to allow six goals on 31 shots in a 10-1 loss. It has been dreadful start to the season for the young netminder, who has now allowed 11 goals on the first 65 shots (.831 SV%) that he has faced.

Olofsson is expected to dress as a seventh defenseman on Saturday.

Olofsson sat as a healthy scratch in the season opener in Detroit, but with Mikael Granlund battling an undisclosed injury he will draw in as a seventh defenseman tonight in Carolina. The 22-year-old blueliner had three assists in 13 games with Minnesota last season, but spent most of the year in Iowa (AHL) where he amassed 24 points (6G / 18A) across 59 contests.

Murray will start opening night vs. the Blues.

Murray has two Stanley Cups in two seasons, not a bad start to a career. With Marc-Andre Fleury now in Vegas, the Penguins’ crease belongs to Murray. He has just 60 career regular season starts, but could see close to that number in his third season. Murray has a career 2.32 GAA and .925 SV%, making him a strong No.1 fantasy option and his team makes him a candidate for the NHL-lead in wins.

The Senators have signed Max McCormick to a two-year contract extension.

McCormick spent most of last season in Binghamton (AHL), but after inking a one-way deal could find himself in Ottawa to start the 2017-18 season. McCormick has 21 goals and 15 assists (36 points) in 66 AHL games and failed to record a point in seven NHL games.

The Wild re-signed Gustav Olofsson to a two-year, $1.45M deal ($725K AAV).

Olofsson spent the majority of last year in Iowa (AHL), where he amassed 24 points (6G / 18A) in 59 games. Olofosson has good size (6-foot-3 / 197 lbs) and his offensive game is improving, making him an up-and-coming two-way defenseman. This is a one-year deal and with the Wild cutting ties with Christian Folin, Olofsson will likely be in Minnesota from Day 1 this year.

The Islanders have acquired Jordan Eberle from the Oilers for Ryan Strome.

Eberle scored 20 goals with 31 assists (51 points) in 82 games with the Oilers last season. The 27-year-old winger struggled in the playoffs, collected just two assists in 13 games before the Oilers were bounced. Eberle has averaged 24 goals and 32 assists (56 points) over that last four seasons and could see ample playing time with John Tavares in 2018.

Murray was 15-6 with a 2.08 GAA, .923 SV% and one shutout en route to winning the Stanley Cup in last year’s postseason. The 22-year-old has gone 2-1-1 with a 3.16 GAA and .909 SV% vs. the Blue Jackets this season.
