Montour underwent ankle surgery in the offseason, missing most of training camp, but could be ready for the season opener on Thursday. In his first season with Seattle, Montour had a career-high 18 goals to go along with 23 assists (41 points) in 81 games.

Seattle will be without one of their main defensemen for 6-8 weeks after it was announced Ryker Evans was out with an upper-body injury on Wednesday. The 23-year-old is entering his third season with the Kraken after posting career highs across the board in 2024-25 with five goals, 25 points and 59 SOG in 73 games played. Josh Mahura is expected to take his spot in Seattle's lineup while Evans is on the mend.

Dunn did not practice on Tuesday but is not expected to miss significant time. The 28-year-old Dunn scored 39 points (11G / 28A) in 62 games with Seattle last season. He is one of only 15 defensemen to score over 35 combined goals in the previous three seasons.

Kakko left Seattle's preseason game early in the week with an upper-body injury and is now expected to miss the next six weeks after it was announced he suffered a broken hand. The 24-year-old is entering his first full season in Seattle after being acquired from New York last season and putting up career highs in points (44) across 79 games played. Kakko is expected to play a pivotal top-six role for Seattle this season when he returns to the lineup.

Stephenson left Seattle's game on Tuesday vs. Calgary due to an undisclosed injury and is considered day-to-day going forward. The 31-year-old centre is coming off his second consecutive 51-point season after completing his first year in Seattle in 2024-25. He is expected to play a key role up the middle of Seattle's offence this year.

Kakko left Seattle's preseason game on Tuesday with an upper-body injury and is still being evaluated with the expectation he will see a specialist on Friday. The 24-year-old is entering his first full season in Seattle after putting up career highs in points (44) in 2024-25 between New York and Seattle. Kakko is expected to play a pivotal top-six role this season, so if he is forced to miss any time, it will be worrisome for the Kraken.

Seattle will be without one of its top prospects for training camp after it was announced that Nathan Villeneuve would miss the remainder of training camp with a lower-body injury. The 19-year-old forward was Seattle's 2024 2nd round pick (63rd overall) and had 34 goals, 70 points and 120 PIMs in 57 games with Sudbury (OHL) last season.

McCann will miss the start of training camp after it was announced Sunday that the 29-year-old was day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The star forward is entering his fifth season in Seattle and 11th NHL season after surpassing 60+ points for a third consecutive campaign in 2024-25. He is expected to be a key part of Seattle's top-six and power play yet again in 2025-26.

Max McCormick will not have a chance to crack Seattle's roster to start this season after it was announced Wednesday that the 33-year-old would miss training camp and is out indefinitely with a hip injury. McCormick is expected to return to the Coachella Valley (AHL) when he is healthy enough, where he has captained the Firebirds for the last three seasons and recorded seven goals and 13 points in 19 games last season.

Seattle locked up one of their key defenders on Monday after they announced Ryker Evans had signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.05 million AAV ($4.1M total). The 23-year-old was Seattle's 2021 2nd round pick (35th overall) and has done well adjusting to the NHL since making his debut in 2023-24. In his sophomore campaign in 2024-25, he took a massive step forward with career highs in all statistical categories, including his five goals, 25 points and 30 PIMs in 73 games played.

O'Brien was selected No.8 overall in this summer's NHL draft and quickly signs his entry-level deal with the Kraken. The 18-year-old centre spent the 2024-25 season with the Brantford Bulldogs (OHL), where he was third on the team with 98 points (32G / 66A) in 66 games. Expect him to return to the OHL for the 2025-26 season.

Seattle has added a third netminder to their goaltending carousel after signing Matt Murray to a one-year, $1 million contract. Murray, 31, was once a Conn Smythe winner with Pittsburgh in 2015-16 but has since gone through multiple surgeries. He struggled while appearing in only two games for Toronto in 2024-25 but excelled in the AHL with the Marlies, posting a .934 Sv%, 1.72 GAA and 10-5-6 record.

After spending his first six NHL seasons with the New York Rangers, Lindgren joined the Colorado Avalanche before the 2024-25 trade deadline. The 27-year-old defenseman will join his third team in the last several months, signing a four-year deal worth $4.5 million AAV. He scored 22 points (4G / 18A) and averaged 19:42 time-on-ice in 72 games combined between Colorado and New York last season.

Minnesota has shed $2.1 million in salary after trading Frederick Gaudreau to the Seattle Kraken for a 2025 4th-round pick (102nd overall) on Thursday. The 32-year-old center spent four seasons in Minnesota, most recently putting up 18 goals and 37 points after appearing in all 82 games played in 2024-25. He is expected to take a bottom-six role with Seattle in the 2025-26 season.

Fleury spent most of the 2024-25 season as the Kraken's No.7 defenseman, appearing in 14 games with the team. He did spend some time in the AHL, where he had 26 points (7G / 19A) in 39 games with Coachella Valley. Expect Fleury to serve a similar fringe roster player role over the next two seasons.

Despite not collecting a point in eight games with Seattle in 2024-25, Ben Meyers has earned himself a one-year, $775,000 contract extension. The undrafted 26-year-old is currently with his third NHL team in five seasons and has six goals and eight points in 75 career NHL games.
