Tampa Bay Lightning News

Pheonix Copley (undisclosed) had to leave practice early after being helped off by training staff.

If Copley has to miss any time this season, the Kings will likely recall David Rittich, who has spent the entire season with the Ontario Reign (AHL), posting a 2.63 GAA and .901 SV% in 16 games (7-6-3). In any event, Cam Talbot should continue to see the lion's share of action between the pipes as he continues to have an exceptional season.

Vasilevskiy will start in Edmonton on Thursday.

Vasilevskiy fell back down to earth in Vancouver on Thursday, surrendering three goals on just 21 shots in the 4-1 defeat. It ended a three-game winning streak for Vasilevskiy, who finally looked to be rounding into form after an understandably slow start to his season. The 2020-21 Conn Smythe Trophy winner owns an uncharacteristically low .894 SV% on the season to go along with his 4-4-0 record. He draws another difficult assignment on Thursday against Connor McDavid and the Oilers.

Victor Hedman (upper body) will miss his second-straight contest Thursday vs. Edmonton.

Hedman left the Lightning's game Saturday vs. Seattle after just 13:40 TOI due to an upper-body injury and was and will miss a second consecutive game on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers. The 32-year-old towering defenseman is back to his Norris Trophy form this season, with five goals, 22 assists, 55 SOG, 22 PIMs and -5 plus/minus in 29 games played.

The 32-year-old towering defenseman is back to his Norris Trophy form this season, with five goals, 22 assists, 55 SOG, 22 PIMs and -5 plus/minus in 29 games played. His next chance to return to the lineup will be Thursday in Edmonton.

Vasilevskiy will start in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Vasilevskiy will be back between the pipes for the Lightning on Tuesday as he searches for a fourth-consecutive win. The 2018-19 Vezina Trophy winner is starting to find his form after an understandably slow start to his season. He's allowed just four goals on 79 shots (.949 SV%) across his three-game winning streak, though he will have his hands full on Tuesday against the Canucks' high-powered offense. The Lightning find themselves as slight road underdogs at +105 in Vancouver.

Boris Katchouk has cleared waivers and is expected to report to Rockford (AHL).

Katchouk had two goals, two assists, 23 SOG, and four PIMs in 17 games with Chicago this season but will report to Rockford (AHL) after clearing waivers Tuesday. The 25-year-old left-winger will return to the AHL for the first time since 2021-22 when he played three games for the Syracuse Crunch (AHL).

Johansson will start in Nashville on Thursday.

Johansson will start the tail-end of Tampa Bay's back-to-back after Andrei Vasilevskiy picked up the 3-1 win over the Penguins on Wednesday. It's Johansson's first start since November 28th, when he surrendered three goals on 27 shots enroute to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Coyotes. The 28-year-old netminder owns a .892 SV% and a 8-5-5 record on the season. He'll have his hands full on Thursday facing a Predators team fresh off back-to-back victories.

Jonas Johansson
Vasilevskiy will start against the Penguins on Wednesday.

We caught a glimpse of the Vasilevskiy of old in his previous start as he shut out the Dallas Stars in a 25 save effort for the sixth time in his career, and he will re-take the crease Wednesday vs. Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old superstar netminder has struggled with his return from back surgery so far this season as he is 2-3-0 with a 3.03 GAA and .887 SV%. He faces the heavy shooting Pittsburgh Penguins, who are on a two-game losing streak but are third in the NHL in shots per game (33.5).
