Smith will be back in the Stars lineup on Friday.

Smith has been a healthy scratch for the last three games, but will be back in the lineup vs. the Penguins. Smith has four goals and five assists in 31 games this season. There’s no word on who will come out in favour of Smith, but head coach Ken Hitchcock said Smith will play.

Sheary (lower-body) traveled to Dallas and could play on Friday.

Sheary has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but he was on the ice for Thursday’s practice and could play tonight in Dallas. Sheary, who has 19 points (12G / 7A) in 52 games this season, skated on a line with Riley Sheahan and Zach Aston-Reese. Monitor his status during the Penguins’ morning skate.

Vasilevskiy will start Thursday vs. the Canucks.

Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Lightning’s loss in Edmonton on Monday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Vasilevskiy, who will make his 44th start of the season tonight vs. the Canucks. On Saturday, Vasilevskiy stopped 31 of 33 shots in a 4-2 win in Vancouver.

Elliott will start Thursday vs. the Canadiens.

Elliott allowed one goal on 28 shots in the Flyers’ overtime win in Carolina on Tuesday. IT was a nice return to the crease for Elliott, who has won three in a row while posting a 1.29 GAA and .948 SV%. He draws a great matchup tonight with the Canadiens in town—he is 9-5-3 with a 2.92 GAA and .896 SV% on home ice this season.

Elliott allowed two goals on 21 shots in the Flyers win in Detroit on January 23rd. Elliott missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but will return to the crease tonight in Carolina. The veteran netminder has gone 5-1-0 despite posting a 3.18 GAA and .888 SV% in his last six starts.

Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Lightning’s win in Vancouver on Saturday. Vasilevskiy has won four in a row while posting a 1.75 GAA, .955 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he faces a poor Oilers team in Edmonton—Vasilevskiy is 15-6-1 with a 1.96 GAA and .943 SV% on the road this year.

The Flyers have activated Brian Elliott (lower-body) from IR.

Elliott has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury but he has been activated and is expected to start on Tuesday. The Flyers lost all four games without Elliott, who heads into Tuesday at 10-6-4 with a 2.63 GAA and .917 SV% on the road this season.

The Devils have assigned Steven Santini to Binghamton (AHL).

Santini has not played in the last nine games and with the return of Mirco Mueller, Santini became their eighth defenseman. Santini has 10 points (2G / 8A) in 36 games with the Devils this season and will likely make his AHL season debut this weekend.

Vasilevskiy allowed one goal on 37 shots in the Lightning’s win in Philadelphia last Thursday. After a three-game losing streak, Vasilevskiy has won his last two games while turning away 76 of 77 shots (.987 SV%). The Flames went into Tampa Bay and beat up on the Bolts a few weeks ago so the Lighting will be looking to get some revenge in Calgary tonight.

Hedman (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Hedman has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury that looked serious at first but it looks like he’ll return ahead of his three week timetable. Hedman skated on the top pairing and top PP unit during Tuesday’s morning skate and is expect to play tonight in Winnipeg.
