Tanev (mumps) is hopeful that he will play on Tuesday.

Tanev missed Saturday’s game vs. the Sharks because of the mumps, but was on the ice for Monday’s practice and is expected to play Tuesday vs. the Red Wings. Tanev is a key member of the Canucks’ blueline, but isn’t an offensive threat—he has just six points (1G / 5A) in 36 games this season.

Marner will miss his fifth consecutive games with an upper-body injury that he suffered 10 days ago. Marner was on the ice for the Maple Leafs’ morning skate and head coach Mike Babcock said that he looked like the best player out there and didn’t know why he’s not playing tonight.

The Maple Leafs have placed Mitch Marner (upper-body) on IR.

Marner will miss his third consecutive game with an upper-body injury, but his movement to IR was a way to create a roster spot to recall Frederik Gauthier and Marner remains a possibility for Thursday’s game against the Rangers. With Marner out, Josh Leivo will skate in the top-6 again tonight.

Mitch Marner
Marner left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Marner was hurt when he went hard into the side boards, but took his next shift before eventually retiring to the dressing room for the night. Marner played just 9:56 TOI and is questionable for Saturday’s game vs. the Senators. Monitor his status as the week progresses.
