It was announced Tuesday that he will head to the long-term injured reserve which is a huge loss as the Maple Leafs are already without T.J. Brodie and Jake Muzzin. Rielly was enjoying a strong 2022-23 prior to the injury, with 16 assists through 20 games played prior to the injury.

He draws the tough task of the New Jersey Devils who lead the Metropolitan Divison and are second in the NHL in goals per game (3.75).

Murray has not taken the crease since October 12th due to a hip injury that kept him out for the last month. He will return to the Leafs' crease Tuesday as a welcome addition as Toronto is currently without Ilya Samsonov due to injury as well.
