Toronto Maple Leafs News

Stolarz is in the starter's crease at Toronto's morning skate.

The Maple Leafs have had an inconsistent 6-5-1 start to the 2025-26 season, and will likely roll with Stolarz on Monday against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Stolarz was excellent in his most recent outing, saving 31 of 33 shots (.939 SV%) in a 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. The 31-year-old Stolarz has a 3.13 GAA and .893 SV% in nine games this season (4-4-1). The Maple Leafs enter Monday's contest as -163 home favorites against a surprising Penguins team off to a solid 8-3-2 start.

Tanev (upper-body) has been cleared to return and is likely to play vs. Philadelphia on Saturday.

Tanev has been out of the lineup for just over a week, recovering from an upper-body injury, but should return to the lineup on Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 35-year-old Tanev has one point (0G / 1A) and eight blocks through seven games this season.

Chris Tanev
Laughton (lower-body) skated on Friday but is doubtful to return on Saturday vs. Philadelphia.

Laughton suffered a lower-body injury towards the end of training camp and has been sidelined since. The 31-year-old Laughton was limited to only four points (2G / 2A) in 20 games with the Maple Leafs after being acquired before last season's trade deadline. The Maple Leafs will hope that an offseason helps the 31-year-old acclimate to the team's style, allowing him to return to the production he had in his previous two full seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, when he scored 82 points (31G / 51A) in 160 games.

Nylander (lower-body) is out vs. Columbus on Wednesday.

Nylander has been battling a nagging injury the last week, being in and out of the lineup, and will sit again on Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 29-year-old Nylander played last night and record an assist in a 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames. He has 15 points (3G / 12A) in nine games this season. Sammy Blais will draw into the lineup, filling in for Nylander.

Stolarz will start vs. Calgary on Tuesday.

Toronto has had an inconsistent 4-4-1 start to the 2025-26 season and hopes to start a winning streak on Tuesday, turning to Stolarz between the pipes against the Calgary Flames. The 31-year-old Stolarz has battled through his own adversity this season, posting a 3.31 GAA and .885 SV% in seven games (2-4-1), a far cry from the elite numbers he posted a season ago. Still, the Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's contest as -177 home favorites against a Flames team off to a miserable 2-7-1 start to the season

Stecher will draw back into Edmonton's lineup vs. Utah on Tuesday.

Noah Philp will be a healthy scratch for the Oilers on Thursday as the team goes with an 11-7 formation, with Stecher drawing into the lineup as the seventh defenseman. The 31-year-old Stecher is averaging 15:34 time-on-ice and has zero points through four games this season.
