Matthews (shoulder) will miss at least the next three games.
The Maple Leafs don’t want to rush their star centre back, so they will wait for him to get through a full-contact practice before he returns to the lineup. Matthews will miss at least three games, so his next opportunity to return to practice is next Tuesday.
The Coyotes have sent Dakota Mermis to Tucson (AHL).
Mermis, 24, has played just one game with the Coyotes and returns to the Roadrunners where he has five points (1G / 4A) in nine games. His return to the AHL suggests that one or both of Jakob Chychrun and Alex Goligoski will return on Wednesday.
The Rangers sent Vinni Lettieri to Hartford (AHL).
Lettieri appeared in 14 games with the Rangers before being sent down, but only averaged 8:53 TOI/gm. The 23-year-old failed to record a point in those 14 games and heads to Hartford, where he had 36 points (23G / 13A) in 55 games a season ago.

Jarnkrok (lower-body) will be back in the Predators lineup on Thursday.
Jarnkrok has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but will play tonight in Arizona. Jarnkrok will skate with Kyle Turris and Craig Smith, but has just three goals and two assists in 15 games this season.
Carlo (upper-body) will not play on Wednesday.
Carlo missed Sunday’s game vs. the Golden Knights and will miss at least Wednesday’s game as well. Carlo won’t initially travel with the team on their upcoming trip, but is expected to re-join the team at some point.
The Jets have assigned Logan Shaw to Manitoba (AHL).
Shaw was signed to a two-way contract on Sunday and heads to Manitoba to start his Jets career. Shaw was originally with the Ducks on a PTO, picking up five points (2G / 3A) in seven games with San Diego (AHL) before signing in Winnipeg.
Carlo (upper-body) is not expected play on Sunday.

Tanev has missed the last five games with a hip issue that he suffered while blocking a shot in Vegas on October 24th. Tanev will likely log huge minutes while Alex Edler is out, which is nothing new for the Canucks blueliner, who was already playing nearly 22 minutes per night this season.
Boyd (foot) is expected to make his season debut on Monday.
Boyd has missed the first 12 games of the season, but is set to make his season debut vs. the Oilers. The 25-year-old had one assist in eight games with the Capitals last season and one assist in two games with Hershey (AHL) during his conditioning stint. He will replace Nic Dowd on the Capitals’ fourth line.
Tanev (hip) will not play Wednesday vs. the Blackhawks.
Tanev will miss his fourth straight game with a bruised hip, but the Canucks are hopeful that he will be able to travel on the Canucks upcoming six-game road-trip.
McCabe (upper-body) is not on the ice for warmups; will not play vs. the Flames.
The Canucks have placed Chris Tanev (hip) on IR.
Tanev has missed the last three games with a hip injury and was placed on IR to create a roster spot for the Canucks to recall Brendan Gaunce from Utica (AHL) because Brandon Sutter got hurt on Monday night.
Tanev (hip) will not play on Monday.
Tanev will miss his third straight game with a hip issue and remains day-to-day. Michael Del Zotto will remain in the Canucks lineup while Tanev is sidelined.
