Mikhail Sergachev will not play Thursday after being a game-time decision (undisclosed).

Sergachev will miss his first game of the 2022-23 season as he deals with an undisclosed injury Thursday. The 24-year-old has been enjoying an incredible breakout season, with five goals, 22 assists, 24 PIMs and 48 SOG through 28 games. He currently is on a three-game point streak (1G/3A) and will hope to be back sooner rather than later.

Vanecek allowed four goals on 23 shots (.826 SV%) as he picked up his second overtime loss in three starts with a 5-4 defeat to the New York Rangers. Vanecek has been nearly unbeatable this season, shown by his 12-2-2 record, .912 SV% and 2.39 GAA. He faces the struggling Philadelphia Flyers, who have won only one of their last seven contests.

Vejmelka allowed four goals on 41 shots (.902 SV%) for his second straight win in a victory over Philadelphia in his last start. The 26-year-old has been a star for the Coyotes this season, posting an 8-7-3 record, with a .913 SV% and 3.07 GAA. He takes on the San Jose Sharks who snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Anaheim in their last game.

Vanecek was pulled in his previous start after allowing four goals on 17 shots (.765 SV%) as he took the no-decision in his worst start of the season vs. the Islanders. The 26-year-old has been exceptional for the Devils in his first season, with a 12-2-1 record, 2.30 GAA and .916 SV%. He will take on the New York Rangers, who have won their last three contests after beating Colorado 2-1 in a shootout in their last game.

Jaxson Stauber has been reassigned to Rockford (AHL).

Stauber was with the Blackhawks as merely a placeholder while Petr Mrazek dealt with his groin injury. Due to that Stauber did not get to make his NHL debut during his time with Chicago and will head back to Rockford (AHL) Monday where he has a 3-2-0 record, 3.34 GAA and .892 SV% in six games between the pipes.

The Coyotes' backup netminder has been horrendous this season, with a 1-5-1 record, 3.57 GAA and .887 SV%. He faces off against the Edmonton Oilers, who will hope their third-ranked PP (29%) can help improve their 10th-ranked goals per game (3.42) in the NHL.
