Lehner stopped all nine shots that he faced after replacing Chad Johnson in the Sabres’ loss to New Jersey on Monday. Johnson left Wednesday’s practice to get stitches before their flight to San Jose, but he is good to go tonight vs. the Sharks. Lehner has stopped 59 of 65 shots (.908 SV%) that he has faced in three appearances this season.
Sissons was not on the ice for the Predators morning skate, so he is listed as a game-time decision. If Sissons can’t play, Kevin Fiala (upper-body) is expected to draw back in to take his roster spot.
Barbashev unsurprisingly cracked the Blues roster, but was surprisingly scratched in the first two contests. This afternoon he will replace Oskar Sundqvist as the third-line centre and will look to build off of the 12 points (5G / 7A) he had in 30 games with the Blues last season.
Lehner stopped 38 of 40 shots in the Sabres’ shootout loss to Montreal on Thursday. It was an impressive start to the season for Lehner, who will go again tonight against the Islanders. New York was shutout in their opener, so look for Lehner to have another strong outing.
In his second season with the Sabres, Lehner started a career-high 58 games and went 23-26-8 with a 2.68 GAA and .920 SV%. Lehner has posted a strong .920 SV% in his two seasons with the Sabres, ranking sixth among qualified NHL netminders over that stretch. The Sabres should be an improved team this season, giving Lehner some intriguing upside. He starts his season against a Canadiens team with some question marks entering the season.
Eichel is entering the final year of his entry-level contract, so this extension will kick in for the 2018-19 season and run through the 2025-26 campaign—he will be 29-years-old. Eichel is hoping for a better start to 2017-18 after last year got derailed by an injury before the first game. Upon his return to the Buffalo lineup, Eichel was 10th in the NHL in points and is pegged as one of the biggest breakout candidates coming into this season.
Megna, 24, was a seventh round pick in 2012 and made his NHL debut in 2016-17, appearing in one game with the Ducks. He had a career-high 27 points (5G / 22A) in 62 AHL games with the San Diego Gulls.
Foo was a highly sought after college free agent, who scored 26 goals with 36 assists to finish second on Union College in points with 62 in a 38-game season. The 6-foot, 180 lbs. forward can play centre or wing and is expected to land a top-9 role in Calgary this fall.
Patrick was viewed as the consensus No.1 heading into the 2016-17, but saw his stock drop a bit because he was limited to 33 games because of injury. Patrick is viewed as the complete hockey package. The Brandon Wheat Kings’ centre had 46 points (20G / 26A) this season and brings great leadership qualities along with an excellent shot, great vision and the skating ability you look for in a top pick.
