The Avalanche sent Michael Sgarbossa back to Lake Erie (AHL).
Sgarbossa had one assist and 10 PIMS in three games with the Avalanche during his recall.

Eller suffered and upper-body injury in the first period of the Canadiens loss to the Blackhawks last night. He will be replaced by Sven Andrighetto, who will make his NHL debut after being recalled last night.

The Avalanche have recalled Michael Sgarbossa from Lake Erie (AHL).
In the wake of more injuries to Avalanche forwards, the 22-year-old centre has been recalled and is expected to be in the lineup tonight vs. Montreal. Sgarbossa has three goals and nine assists (12 points) in 18 games with Lake Erie this season. He has no points in six career NHL games.
Ovechkin (upper-body) will play on Wednesday.
Ovechkin left practice on Tuesday with an upper-body injury, but was back on the ice this morning and he confirmed that he will be in the lineup vs. the Islanders. Ovi will skate with Nicklas Backstrom and Tom Wilson. Ovechkin is averaging 4.65 shots per game and has18 points (9G / 9A) in 20 games.
Ovechkin left practice with an upper-body injury but will travel to New York.
There is no word on the severity of Ovechkin’s upper-body injury, but it sounds like it is not very serious and that it should no effect him in tomorrow’s game vs. the Islanders. He has just one goal and one assist in his last five games.
van Riemsdyk will miss 3-4 months with a left patella fracture.
van Riemsdyk will have surgery on Thursday to repair the fractured knee cap that he suffered on Sunday vs. Dallas. This is a tough break for the young defensemen who had a nice start to his NHL career. He will be back in mid-February, early March.
Tom Wilson on the ice for the Capitals morning skate. A sign he is close to a return but will not play in tonight's contest.
Before his injury the big young prospect was playing on the top line with Ovechkin and Backstrom. He has 3 points in 6 games and could be someone to keep an eye on in keeper leagues
Oshie (concussion) returns to the lineup on Thursday.
Oshie has missed the last six games with a concussion but will be back in the lineup on Thursday vs. the Predators. Oshie will play on a line with David Backes and Patrik Berglund in his return. He has just one assist in eight games this season.
Oshie (concussion) will not play on Tuesday.
Oshie took part in the Blues morning skate, but he was never really expected to suit up tonight. But, it is good news to see him back on the ice again this morning as he continues to work his way back from a concussion. He could be back on Thursday vs. Nashville.
Wilson (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday.
Wilson had been skating on the top-line recently, but with him out the Capitals will turn to Jay Beagle to skate alongside Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Wilson is day-to-day and hopes to be back in the lineup for either Friday or Saturday.
Wilson (lower-body) is not on the ice for Capitals practice on Monday.
Wilson suffered a lower-body injury in the Capitals win over the Hurricanes on Saturday. He was skating on the Capitals’ top-line, a spot that is now being occupied by Jay Beagle with Wilson not skating. Consider him day-to-day.
Oshie (concussion) is skating in a no-contact sweater this morning.
This is the first time that Oshie has skated since suffering a concussion on October 28th. He has missed the last six games and is reportedly not very close to returning. Being back at practice is a good sign that he is recovering, but he needs to shed the no-contact jersey before a return is can be considered close.
Oshie (concussion) is “nowhere near” a return.
Oshie practiced on Thursday but missed his fifth game in a row last night. He suffered his concussion in the same game as David Backes, but his appears to be much more serious, because the captain missed just one game. Oshie is not expected to return soon.

The Rangers have sent Dylan McIlrath back to Hartford (AHL).
McIlrath played 8:02 and record nine penalty minutes, two hits and three blocked shots in his season debut on Monday. With Kevin Klein ready to return to the lineup tonight, McIlrath had to go back to Hartford.
Line Change
Wilson is skating on the Capitals top line this morning.
The second year forward played a season-high 15:04 and scored one goal with one assist against Arizona on Sunday. This morning he is skating with Alex Ovehckin and Nicklas Backstrom, so it looks like he will be taking on a larger offensive role. Head coach Barry Trotz expressed his interest in having this trio together in the preseason and it has materialized.

The Rangers have recalled Dylan McIlrath from Hartford (AHL).
McIlrath, 22, has not record a point in eight games with Hartford this season. He has been recalled after the Rangers lost Ryan McDonagh and Kevin Klein to injuries on Saturday night. McIlrath has not recorded a point in two career NHL games.
Oshie (concussion) will not travel on the upcoming two-game road-trip.
Oshie will miss his third and fourth straight game on Monday and Tuesday, but there is no word how long he will be out after that. Monitor his status leading up to Thursday's home game vs. the Devils.
Oshie (concussion) will not play on Saturday.
Oshie will miss his second straight game with a concussion that he suffered on Tuesday. Oshie did not skate this morning so it does not look like he will be back soon.
Oshie will not play on Thursday and has been diagnosed with a concussion.
There is no word on when Oshie may have suffered the concussion, but it will keep him sidelined for at least tonight. Concussions are a tough injury to put a timetable on, so consider him day-to-day and likely to miss a couple of games.
Line Change
Wilson will make his season debut tonight.
Wilson was originally listed as a game-time decision, but he will be in the lineup with Eric Fehr coming out of the lineup. He will start on the fourth line, but there was some chatter in the preseason that the Capitals were thinking about having him playing on the top line with Nicklas Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin, so he might be someone to keep an eye on.
