The Cheat Sheet: March 22nd, 2011

Gather around hockey fans and devoted gamblers, it’s time for our daily meeting before we go off and make some potentially regrettable decisions with our money. Today on the docket: 10 games, sorted into Gold picks, Silver Picks, Bronze Picks, and black lumps of coal.

Let’s see how today’s numbers break down, using the trusty database-recall system.

Tuesday’s Sheet:

– That 12% projected shooting percentage for the Blue Jackets is a perfect indication of the quality of goaltending that the Avalanche have been getting this season. Brian Elliott has a 3.79 GAA so far with Colorado, and the prediction here is that his numbers won’t get any prettier after this game.

– Washington resting Ovechkin–hard to say how that game will really play out. I’ll stay away.

– They might be wildly inconsistent from game-to-game, but I think the Leafs might actually be worth a look today. The Wild just have that glazed over look in their eyes right now that says that they think their season is over, while the Leafs haven’t given up just yet.

-I also think that the Devils are worth a look as well. New Jersey is holding everybody to just about 20 shots nowadays, while Boston is surrendering SOGs at somewhere in the mid-30’s.

Agree with the Gold pick? Disagree with it? See a betting line on the board that seems wrong? You know what to do (fill up the comment section).
