The Cheat Sheet: March 23rd, 2011

Gather around hockey fans and devoted gamblers, it’s time for our daily meeting before we go off and make some potentially regrettable decisions with our money. Today on the docket: 4 games, sorted into Gold picks, Silver Picks, Bronze Picks, and black lumps of coal.

Let’s see how today’s numbers break down, using the trusty database-recall system.

Wednesday’s Sheet:

– Yowza… 3.5 to 2.1 is a pretty big margin. Essentially, Vancouver is predicted to win this game 63% of the time. Detroit has looked pretty flaky at home, I guess.

– I’m not afraid to back the quack (bet on the Ducks) at +120. This game is a virtual coin flip (Anaheim 47% to win), so give me the dog… Math: 47% x 2.20 = 1.03 = 3 cents of expected profit on the dollar (score!).

Agree with the Gold pick? Disagree with it? See a betting line on the board that seems wrong? You know what to do (fill up the comment section).
