The Cheat Sheet: March 25th, 2011

Gather around hockey fans and devoted gamblers, it’s time for our daily meeting before we go off and make some potentially regrettable decisions with our money. Today on the docket: 5 games, sorted into Gold picks, Silver Picks, Bronze Picks, and black lumps of coal.

– I don’t know what was worse for me yesterday, watching Montreal get smoked 7-0, or San Jose lose in the shootout after a teasing last-second goal in regulation.  Either way, I’m in a world of hurt at the moment, and I don’t think that I have enough strength left over to fight off all the trolls that are about to emerge from their shadowy hideouts to tell me how bad I suck. I didn’t hear a peep from them during the first two weeks of March, but a couple of rough days on the ice, and these keyboard warriors are already getting ready to shred me to bits (right?).

Obviously, this whole paragraph is a bit of a preemptive strike on my part, to try and deter these “geniuses” from rearing their ugly heads. Hell, if there is better NHL betting advice out there on the web, then I’d like to know… so that (1) I can copy their picks and get the hell out of this slump, and (2) try to figure out what exactly they’re doing differently and “borrow” some ideas. What? I never said that I had the perfect system. If I can learn something useful off someone else then that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.

Finally, if you think that any of the picks here are crap, then absolutely feel free to let me know BEFORE the game starts, and definitely NOT afterwards, when we’re all looking back at the final score in hindsight. If you can do that, then I’ll actually give you credit for being a genius (just make sure to use a screen name that you plan on sticking with). Otherwise, I’m really not sure what you’re trying to accomplish.

– System’s picks today: heavy chalk–not really my style. I’d probably take a look at the Grand Salami Under. I’ve got a combined total of 25.6 goals here.
