The Cycle: Goalie Fights, Goalie Fights, Goalie Fights!!!

The cycle spans the internet for intelligent, well-thought out articles which either help your fantasy team or will give you some better incite on your favorite team. If you feel we should add your link, feel free to contact us at contact at dailyfaceoff dot com or on twitter @dailyfaceoff.

No article here but how could we not link to Rick “Insert nickname about his fragility here” DiPietro getting embarrassed by Brent Johnson. On a similar note, Columbus Blue Jackets’ netminders Steve Mason and Mathieu Garon discuss goalie fights over with The Columbus Dispatch. Think Brent Johnson throws a mean left hook, check out this classic courtesy of the infamous Dan Cloutier.

The Heritage Classic sponsorship trumps Winter Classic. This news apparently shocks the NHL, but I’m not sure it would shock most Canadians. Regardless, our very own Kevin Dupuis will be covering the Classic later this month, stay tuned.

Three fights and a goal in 35 seconds. Wow.

Last week Tyler Seguin turned 19. After 50 NHL games and 17 points, Matt Kalman of The Bruins Blog offers an unique perspective regarding his development. Clearly I have never understood why Seguin ever compared to Taylor Hall at the draft or in his progression, but he seems like a nice, two-way player.

Sorry Devils Fans, your season is over.  Timo Seppa at Puck Prospectus puts the final nail in the coffin for 2010-11, but offers hope for next year.

Patrick Hoffman at RLD Hockey takes on the Alexander Ovechkin conundrum. Despite his flailing statistics and frustrating statistics, he is still a pretty-darn-good player in roto. Not first overall good, but top 10.

If you drafted Lubomir Visnovsky this season it probably came as a bargain. The 34-year-old ranks third in scoring for defensemen, behind only Nicklas Lidstrom and the shockingly dominant Keith Yandle. Jonathan Willis of The Score takes Visnovsky’s success even further, nominating him for the Norris Trophy.

Finally, if Zone Starts are up your alley, Behind The Net has some fancy charts for you.
