The Metropolitan Division has earned bragging rights this year.

Led by Claude Giroux, who scored three goals and four points, the Metro Division won the 2022 All-Star Game in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon. Giroux was named Most Valuable Player as the Metro squad took down the Pacific and Central Divisions en route to the win.

Since the four-division tournament format was introduced at the 2016 All-Star Game in Nashville, the Metro and Pacific Division have gone back and forth as winners. The Metro won in 2017 and 2019 while the Pacific won in 2016, 2018, and 2020.

Let’s go over what happened…

Tom Wilson of the Washington Capitals kicked things off just second into the first game of the afternoon between the Metro and the Pacific. The fans at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas let Wilson know they felt about it…

The last time Jordan Eberle played in an All-Star Game, the team he’s currently representing didn’t exist and neither did the team hosting this year’s festivities. 10 years later, Eberle made history in his second All-Star appearance, scoring the first ASG goal by a member of the Seattle Kraken…

The Metro Division would wind up winning the game by a score of 6-4. The most impressive part? They kept Connor McDavid off of the scoresheet.

The highest-scoring game of the afternoon featured an 8-5 win by the Central Division over the Atlantic Division. Jordan Kyrou, the league’s fastest skater, continued his big weekend by leading the Central with two goals and four points…

Yet again the Metro got off to a quick start and yet again it was a Capital getting the job done in Vegas. This time, it was Evgeny Kuznetsov who opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the final…

Giroux, an impending unrestricted free agent, seems to have some chemistry with Jake Guentzel of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Hmm…

Gritty was thrilled to see that the Metro won the game and that Giroux was named MVP…
