Given the fact he was exposed in the Expansion Draft, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, but the New Jersey Devils appear to be interested in moving @P.K. Subban.

Subban is nearing the end of the eight-year, $72,000,000 deal he inked with the Montreal Canadiens back in 2014. He has one more year left with a cap hit of $9,000,000 and will be able to test unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career next summer.

The former Norris Trophy winner has already been traded twice in his career.

The first time came back in 2016 when he was moved to Nashville in a one-for-one swap involving @Shea Weber and the second time came three years later when the Preds sent Subban to New Jersey in exchange for a pair of second-round picks and Jeremy Davies and Steven Santini.

Subban was once one of the best defenders in the league but his game has fallen off significantly since arriving in New Jersey. Over two seasons with the Devils, Subban has just 12 goals and 37 points over the course of 112 games with a negative-31 on-ice goal differential at even-strength.

Perhaps New Jersey could work out a deal with the Kraken to get Seattle to take on the final year of Subban’s contract. Though he isn’t as good as he used to be, Subban would be an excellent personality for the team to add as they get rolling as a new franchise.
