Tonight’s Picks: Kings Fading Fast?

28-25-1: Let’s follow up a winning week last week with another solid showing this week!  Kicking it off with one game tonight.

Looking for a great sportsbook site to place your bets? I use and trust Bodog and bet365 to place my hockey bets but if you are looking for a site where you can bet for free, try CentSports. You always have a minimum of 10 cents to start off and let you bet on the NHL and other sports. When you increase your balance, you are eligible to cash out! Remember that I post these picks for fun and I encourage you to do the same (i.e. don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose).  All lines are provided by bet365 and are current at the time of posting.

Los Angeles Kings +120 at Dallas Stars -140

The Kings, riding a 3 game road losing streak, are rounding out their six game road trip tonight in Dallas, where they went 2-1 last season.  The Kings goaltenders are undergoing criticism right now for their goaltending, led by Jonathan Quick, allowing a 4th-worst in the league, 3.5 goals per game.  The Stars, on the other hand, are seeing a nice rebound from last year’s stats and really giving opponents a tough time, only losing 1 game in regulation so far.  The Stars have showed respectable D so far, allowing 2.88 goals per game and scoring 3.43 goals per game, both advantages over the Kings.  The Kings’ powerplay has been flat over their losing streak, only going 1/17, and will probably not get much further against the Stars who have gone 8/9 on the penalty kill over the last 3 games.  To help matters, the Kings allow the second most power play goals in the league with 1.5 per game.  The Stars are a hotter team right now and are coming off of a big win in Chicago on Saturday.  They have steadier goaltending and will look to exploit the Kings’ latest goaltending woes.
Pick: Stars -140

The Rangers are starting Valiquette tonight so be wary if you wanted to go Rangers over the Sharks.
